MrQuiet tournament position

How good are you? And in your opinion who will win the gold![:D]

Here is current list of participiants (not official):

aaminoff
Avatar47
Erik Rutins (Ruthenion)
Forwarn45
GKar
Haudrauf1962
JanSorensen
kondor
Lebatron
mikemcmann
MrQuiet
rjh1971
tica (Tcarter)
wargameplayer (wargameplaya)
christian brown
freetalk

If there are tree categories (noob, amater, or pro) were would you put your self (and others)? (Maybe mod could put a poll about that?)
So that we know what are we up against?

Haudrauf1962 already apllied himself for the noob category[:)]
ORIGINAL: Haudrauf1962

I am a bloody beginner. I only played the old game againts the AI (which was quite easy to beat).

Nevertheless I am looking forward to a couple of painful lessons [:'(]

Regards

And I fall to that category perfectly[:D]. I have played 5-6 WaW pbem games, and just started to play my first AWD game against mikemcmann.
IMO AWD is a great game and maybe this tournament will interest some more folk´s to join our WWII ranks[;)]!

Good luck to you all![:)] (except against me,[:-][:D] I just saw that I´m in the between Lebatron and Jan...[:(], well it will be my honour to play against the masters[&o])[:'(]

ps. sorry about bad english, but it´s not eveeeerybody´s native tongue...[:'(]

I rank myself a 5, so I guess that is amateur...
Potential Winners (short list)

All of these guys have kicked my sorry butt up and down the block:

Forwarn45
JanSorensen
Lebatron
mikemcmann
MrQuiet
rjh1971
tica (Tcarter)

But my money (if I had any, lol) would be on Forewarn45.

I'd say I'm a noob, simply because I haven't had much chance to play in the last few months and my experience with AWD is vs. AI.

Oh, and I'd give myself a 6/10 and hope to learn more while losing against Forwarn. [:'(]

I would put my play at Vet 7 or 8 out of 10.

I have only played 4 games of AWD so far, but all PBEMs and against some smart players which will teach you real quick what not to do.

I still put my money (probably literally) on Jan Sorrenson. The one game I played against him (WAW 1) I knew early that he is the master. I am sure he has not lost it.

Maybe its just me but I sense a bit of electricity in this forum with the growing excitement and anticipation of our first AWD Tournament.

For sure! [&o]

Maybe we should think of additional matches for those dropping out of the tournament but still interested to carry on. (Being a bit selfish here... [;)])

All players that achieve a win or a draw in at least one of the games will advance to the next round.

We should not lose many per round with this rule in place.
It is even very possible we will not lose any on some rounds.

I too am quite excited about this tournament! I find it very enjoyable playing with a group of like minded people. The world of the internet gives us wargaming geeks an outlet finally opposed to playing solitaire games! :)

As for ranking, I would have classed myself as high vet 7-8 with the WAW orignal, but I have not grasped everything yet in the AWD. I would say I am not a "noob" but am far from pro. I look forward to losing and learning and winning and gloating! :) hehe!

Luck to you all!

I would say I'm an 8 out of 10. Maybe I could be better if I created research and build paterns. But that is not my cup of tea. Casual is my style. If I lose early it will probably be against someone who really plans his Sh*t well[:D]

Hey Christian I've won some battles over you, but if we take an overall look I'd say my butt has been kicked more than yours. Your being too humble.

As to ranking myself I'm not a noob but either not an expert. I haven't played as much as I would have liked against human players and I don't usually play any longer against the the ai.

Looking forward to learn more the hard way [:D][:D]

I'm half-decent, I give myself a 7.5 on 10. Mr Quiet is teaching me at the moment, so I'll be up to 8 soon enough :D I'm gearing to win this thing btw, Jan or no Jan heh.

Maybe wont be quick, but it will sure be painfull[:D[:)]...
If nothing, I´ll have a good time, and will be better player after the tour..
In scale 1 to 10 (like everbody else) I´ll give myself 3.5 (4 with axis, 3 with allias)...[:)].
I just don´t have the time to take everything into considoration, so sometimes I play not so smart[:-][:D]
If I despose of Lebatron and Jan quickly, I have a good chance for the prize[:o][:D]

second that! hey, if I manage to survive turn 1 it will be a miracle...[:)]
We can compete for last place... or just go private...

maybe we can handicap some top players... scratch that, it wouldn´t be fair then...

soon the war will begin... good luck guys (and girls if any...)[;)]

Anybody ever met, at any time in their life, anywhere, a girl playing a real wargame? I've never heard of one, ever.

Sure, though it is a fairly rare encounter.

That link doesn't count, sry! Actual military is quite different than being an armchair general. Again, I've never heard or seen a girl play any type of wargame, even the simplest of ones (A&A). Never seen one on the internet either. Girls interested in guns, military training, shouting and drilling is one thing, but girls interested in moving small counters around a hex grid or whatever? this I've never seen.
