Possible to have missions where one person controls CAPS and one fighters?

I'm not sure if I understood correctly. If you're asking if it's possible to go through missions with fighter pilot, the answer is definately yes. Then again if you mean "one person" going through career from fighter pilot to carrier commander...
the answer is YES! Hope this helps.

I think co-op play against AI is possible. If not, then have 3 players where one plays for other side.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

This is one of the main reasons I wanted StarShatter.. so that my friends and I could play the game eg with me commanding a carrier, and my friends able to play mp as fighters attached to the carrier.

It *is* possible, but is somewhat buggy.

You need to create a mission, with a carrier and fighters.

If you attach the fighters to the carrier it doesent work - the fighter players join but get a view stuck inside the carrier and cant do anything.. except crash the game.

If however you create a mission with a carrier, and mp fighters unattached to the carrier and starting free in space then they can join, and can even dock with the carrier, at which point their mission ends. If me as the carrier re-launches the same fighters (as AI controlled) then the players can rejoin the game and take control of their fighters again.

This is somewhat awkward.. but actually leads to an interesting notion!

Imagine running the game on a dedicated server 24/7 - having enemy ships dotted about systems, and having a player controlled carrier and escort ships, with a squadron of fighters. The commander could jump into the game at any time and take his carrier group about the place.. and if found the enemy could inform his mates (who might be doing other things, eg playing a card game to win cubits or something!) who would then jump into the game, and join once the carrier has launched the fighters that they will inhabit!

My friends and I have toyed with this possibility and managed to get it to work, tho it is a little kludgy.

Multiplayer missions, (or static campaigns) can be created and placed on a server for team play...or you can go head to head.

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away there once was a time that more servers were available, but those that hosted them haven't been seen for some time.

Teamspeak2 headsets were commonly used for comm...instead of chat macros.

I, personally, have not used headsets for this purpose, but I do know of those that have...

As of yet, the dynamic campaigns are not available for multiplayer.

And connection speed has a lot to do with the slugishness of game play. Those on slower connections might fire a missle to find the target was already destroyed before they even fired.
