For the nostalgists amongst us, here's legendary announcer Ernie Harwell in an audio commentary called "The Game For All America".

It may sound silly to some, but the great Ernie perfectly describes my vision of the kind of baseball world that I try to create with Pure Sim. Meet me in the land of hopes and dreams.

(Edited to correct my mistaken notion that he had passed [:o])

Unless I have missed some greatly underreported news... Ernie Harwell is alive and well. He called game one of the '06 W.S. for Tiger's Radio.

My apologies -- you're right. Well, I'm certainly thankful for that. So many of the great "baseball voices" are now gone. Mel Allen, Red Barber, Bob Prince etc.

I didn't know that the Tigers played the Cubs in '06 [:D]

KG- don't worry about Ernie. Yesterday I saw Jake LaMotta (Raging Bull) walking down the street. I said to myself it can't be him. He's dead. Sure enough I find out later he is alive and well. And let me tell you he still looks like he can kick anyones ass.

Thanks. Great story. Yeah, I gotta say that I really felt foolish about making that assumption.
