Joystick Problems Spinning out of control

Post by PicasoX »

I use a CH USB Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle and pro Peddals This setup is the best available and I paid over $600 for it a few years ago, and it has preformed flawlessly through dozens of games throught the years.

When I first got starshatter I installed it and ran it with no problems.

I was using my joystick setup through all the fighter training misions without any problems at all.

When I got to the Cruiser training missins I opted to dissable the Joystick and go with the mouse control.

Whe the campaign started I was back in a fighter again, so I re-enabled the joystick.

As soon as I took off I was spinning out of control, the game didn't even recognize that I had a joystick.

Now every time I start the game I can't get the joystick working, and when I can get it working in a mission, it's not working again by the time I get to the next mission.

At random I enter the control set up and dissabled and re-enabled everything one at a time, going back into the game each time to see if it worked. Sometimes I can get the joystick to work doing that but most of the time not.

Even when I do get the joystick working, aftter I finish a mission and start another I am spinning out of control on take off again.

What is going on? Why does it only recognise the joystick sometimes? I can alt tab back out to windows and see that my joystick software as well as windows is still seeing the joystick, the lights on my USB hub confirm that all the parts are still active, yet I cannot get it to work in the game. and why would it work on one mission but not the next?

I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it and added the patch again and it's still the same, about once out of every 10 trys I can get the joy stick to work by putsing aroung at random in the control settings. Sometimes I spend an hour monkeying around wiith it and still no go, and other times I can get it to work in 2 minuets, but then when I go to another mission it's not working again.

This game looks realy cool and I think it would be really fun, but this is very frustrating and I'm not about to go out and get another joystick whaen I have a $600 set up that works flawlessly with ALL OTHER GAMES.

I didn't have any problems like this with the star shattter demo, and I still don't.

Is there some file I can replace with the joystick settings or somkething? Like I said before the stick was working fine through all the training missions, and it works fine in the star shatter demo.

things are progressivley getting worse.

Now even when I do get the game to see the joystick, it is like left rudder peddal is always on so the ship is in a constant roll.

I have verified that the joystick is not the problem, I can quit the game and fire up any number of games and the stick set up is working fine.

I calibrated the stick in windows and I also tried removing the throttle and peddals and just using the joystick, no change, still spinning.

Are the settings in the Key CFG file correct???
