I remeber those cheesy graphics sequences you used to get in say Panzer General or the FMV boxes that would appear in Harpoon 3 when a plane launched or got shot down, that stuff just puts me in the mood and grounds me back into the action.
Adding the Estab data view for equipment in game, including the relevant features of the equipment and a drawing or a photograph of it, will increase the immersion noticeably and will make the game much more accessible for those that don't have a so deep knowledge in WWII equipment, expanding the player base of the game significantly.
I agree with that, and one way of adding inmersion could be including brief historic footage of the units, perhaps 2 or 3 choosen randomly, so when a artillery unit is clicked, you will see that unit shooting in a couple of different situations and angles and when a Inf unit is being hammered by art you'll see footage of a real WWII Inf unit under art barrage if you click on it. Same if a Inf or tank unit is walking on or fighting in a road, cross country or a city. The screen doesn't have to be very big. There's plenty of all kind of WWII footage to choose from.
Having said that I would like to have the option to turn this off if it's using too much CPU juice or if it's distracting me.
