Record Damage?

Post by Andy_PZ »

HMS Prince of Wales took approximately 55 shell hits and 8 torpedo hits before sinking in a Surface Combat with an IJN Invasion TF, I say approximate as there were 3 rounds of combat, with the final one being a surprise attack on my fleet!
She did dish it out though and I was mightily impressed!!!!
You can't say that civilization doesn't advance...for in every War they kill you in a new way.

Not sure what you could call the record... in one mod by Terminus, Bruce Powers had a BB take 70+ bomb hits (or a gazillion, i forget which) and managed to get away. [X(]

'Course, that wasn't stock...

Stock Submarine Visitor Question: "How deep can she go?"

Stock Submariner's Answer: "All the way to the bottom..." [:'(]

PoW has illustrated this nicely... [8|]

I remember bombing Hong Kong's with a lot of LBA and hitting a light cruiser 105 times.  It sunk.

The PT boat raids always look great, with 90ish "Shell hits" on some boats.

The BB usually survives these 90 hits though.... [:D][:D]

Once the Aoba was holed up at Saigon and my LBA kept pounding her day after day. I have no idea how many hits she took, but it was on the order of 20 a day for a few weeks.

Another time I did one of those ahistorical many bomber raids on a port with the Hiyo there. She took around 100 hits and sank. About the only time I hit ships in port and they sank the same turn.

On the flip side, one flight of Swordfish sank the Yamato with one strike. The Yamato just happened to end up a hex away from a British CV TF. The second wave of Swordfish couldn't find the target and returned without dropping their fish. I think the first flight only scored one or two hits, but it was enough.
