Rule clarification

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Rule clarification

Post by coralsaw »

8.2.1: Units will Op-Fire at any enemy units leaving their region (including units using Strategic Movement through a region, but not Air units returning to their home base (section 7.1.9) after a declared combat or a patrol).

Does 'units' refer to air/artillery, or all units? I'd think the former.

I'm also interested, how can a unit using Strategic Movement leave the unit's region? I thought that SM only happens when there are no enemy units in a region. [:)] Or maybe the above rule covers air units in this case.

Any thoughts?

I think it means all units, just try to move a tank into enemy territory (with units present) and back out - it'll get shot at.

I guess that the strategic movement part is referring to e.g. units moving over a transport fleet chain while enemy forces are present nearby. [;)]

Air units on patrol in an enemy controlled area can also opfire on units moving through the area by rail.

Nice touch, I never thought about that!
