Some questions about the latest version

Post by Breeze »

Hello,

I've returned after about 6 months away from the game, and I must say I'm impressed with the progress that has been made. I've only had a chance to play around with the new version a little bit, but there's some things I'm curious about:

- Has there been any improvement in the results of simmed games vs. played-out games?

- I noticed the game no longer automatically dials down your graphics settings if you're below 25 fps; is the game actually running more smoothly at 20 fps or is it just me?

- Will there eventually be an option to change the graphic options mid-game?

- In your opinion, what's the biggest difference in the game between now and 6 months ago?

Eh, I've probably got more but that's all I can think of right now. It's clear to me that a great game is getting greater all the time; I'm looking forward to having some more fun with this game! I'm even getting back into doing some graphics mods, so be on the lookout for those!

Ah, got another one:

If I want some plain old default playbooks (not from a specific era) what are some good ones to look at?  I eventually would like to use some more offensive plays (even something that builds on the default playbooks would be fine) and have a defensive playbook that is entirely made up of 3-4 plays.  Do these exist?

***I think so. I am fairly pleased with the simmed results. ***

- I noticed the game no longer automatically dials down your graphics settings if you're below 25 fps; is the game actually running more smoothly at 20 fps or is it just me?
***Something I noticed also. I think David did some tweaking. It definately runs smoother***

- In your opinion, what's the biggest difference in the game between now and 6 months ago?
***Far more polished. It has become more stat friendly with the sortable stats. Definately what I always wanted FBPro to evolve into***

Eh, I've probably got more but that's all I can think of right now. It's clear to me that a great game is getting greater all the time; I'm looking forward to having some more fun with this game! I'm even getting back into doing some graphics mods, so be on the lookout for those!

***Looking forward to that.

There are the nmleague college and pro playbooks at www.fbmax.com

I use them for my leagues, plus the default ones.

Welcome back!
- Has there been any improvement in the results of simmed games vs. played-out games?

Simmed games have much better stats now, but they are not quite on par with the regular game. In future versions of the game, David will likely totally re-do the sim game system to use the same engine as the regular game.
- I noticed the game no longer automatically dials down your graphics settings if you're below 25 fps; is the game actually running more smoothly at 20 fps or is it just me?

David streamlines some code, so it does run much better.
- Will there eventually be an option to change the graphic options mid-game?

Eventually? I don't know. This would be out in the future.
- In your opinion, what's the biggest difference in the game between now and 6 months ago?

The defense has much more code, more man options, and adjustable zones!
- If I want some plain old default playbooks (not from a specific era) what are some good ones to look at?

nmleague has some playbooks up at FBMAX.com. He will be updating them over the next few months, as changes made to the game will require plays to be tweaked or rebuilt.
I eventually would like to use some more offensive plays (even something that builds on the default playbooks would be fine) and have a defensive playbook that is entirely made up of 3-4 plays. Do these exist?

The default playbooks are being redrawn and updated. Playbooks with differing primary defenses should be included.

Assuming you have downloaded 1.3.139, the frame rate adjustment has been switched off during beta. It will be back on for the final release.

This would require me to reload all the assets in the game world.

My personal opinion, is that the biggest improvement is 1) the 3D PDS, 2) the new open field running code.

Guess I'd better play some games with all the graphics cranked up an enjoy them while I can then [:D]

There was an update that made the game perform better, so that may not be needed.
