surface to surface engagements

From the name, I imagine it's safe to assume the game focuses on carriers, which is a good thing, since I'm a bit of a flattop fan. However, does the game also allow you to simulate Surface to Surface engagements like, say, Savo Island?

I hesitate to respond on behalf of the developers...but, surface combat is pretty heavily abstracted, at least in terms of "simulation." The focus of the game is on carrier battles and surface combat is dealt with in a cursory manner, mostly I believe to account for the truly limited possibility of fast surface or carrier elements being engaged on the open seas during WW2/PTO.

Peo is correct - its in the game, in an abstracted form. There is a screenshot of surface combat in the Carriers At War game section here at the matrix site.

edit : its the first screenshot in the list

That's fine, really. It would be nice to have both, but given the choice carrier engagements are more my thing. And all to often a game tries to become the jack of all trades and becomes the masters of none, so I can certinaly respect sticking to mainly carrier engagements.
