Supply in India

Post by btam »

Hello:

I am playing as the Japanese in OBC_B in Pac War 3.2:

I know the 3.2 notes specified that many allied units were more prepared at the beginning of the campaign (as a method to boost Allied AI abilities), howver, I found that even after I isolate Calcutta with LBA for over twenty turns and attack with over 10 IJA divisions every oher turn and have a surface TF bombard and even AC TF with no less than four CV's parked in the Calcutta location, Calcutta continuously has supply for the allies.

Conversely, my bases of Rangoon, Dacca, and Akyab never escape the "isolated" status even with tons of LBA located on these bases and the Air zones botton shows my air bases appear to have air superiority. Due to the isolated status of these three bases, my troops' supply fighting in Calcutta started to decrease significantly after more than 10 turns of battles.

So i decided to simply use the editor and reduce supply for Calcutta down to 0 to see what happens. After a couple of more turns of bombardment and land compact and air strikes with depot/factory missions, I used the editor again and once again Calcutta is up to over 9000 supply!

So I then decided to sea-invade the base to the west of Calcutta and captured it. This port city instantly was not isolated and quickly brought my troops in Calcutta supply and i was able to eventually capture it and force defenders to Ranchi.

Ok, next went to Ranchi with about 15 divisions to fight. By this point, Ranchi was the only allied controlled base in India and thus should be isolated. After another ten turns of combat in Ranchi, my 15 divisions, while still having high readiness, were starting to suffer from no infantry squad replacements as my pools were exhaused. Therefore, i used the editor and saw Ranchi still had over 5000 supply thus enemy divisions were always at 99 readiness and hence were still in control of Ranchi. Then I reduced supply for Ranchi down to 0 to see what happens. Played a couple of turns and used the editor again and found Ranchi was back up to about 3000 supply.

Where are the allies getting their supply from in Ranchi and Calcutta even though they appeared to be completely isolated? Conversely, why is Dacca and Akyab always considered isolated (i knew Rangoon always had this problem)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
