I have been even able to run it on Celeron 500 with 196 megs of RAM ! Turns took 15-20 mins to run then though, without combat animations etc. So no newer computer should have any problems.

On Cel 1100 with 256 RAM turns run in 10 mins without animations etc. Now running it on AMD 2800 with 1024 RAM and basicly delay is negligible compared to time it takes to give orders to all units...[8D]

Hello...

Programmed it on an AMD 1.68Ghz micro-processor with 512 MB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeoForce FX 5900 graphics card using Windows XP version 2002, so I know it will run on that.

Bye...

I had no problems at all with my obsolete P3: only 128 megas of RAM.

I use 128 megs of ram on my laptop (when I'm travelling only fortunately).  It works great with no sound and combat animations on.

My newly built Pentium Core Duo 2.4Ghz w/2GBs of RAM handles the game with ease. I won't bother mentioning the GFX card... Course it's kinda overkill, I can turn off the game's music and play MP3s in the background while doing turns in under 5 mins.

I used to run it fine on a PIII 800 Mhz w/512 MBs of RAM, there was a notable pause when moving ships between task forces etc but overall decent.
Yamato, IMO the best looking Battleship.

About 2 min. a turn[8D]

Before i run the game on 650 mhz duron proc. with 256 MB RAM and 64 MB graphic.

Andrew, you disapoint me. I bet that if I still had a 486DX I could get it to work [:D][;)][;)]

Seriously, I HATED to work with al those LOAD HI commands under DOS....
And IF you got a game to run, trying to get the sound working was even worse ...

I had strips of masking tape affixed to the edges of my monitor, with instructions for what to load for each of my favorite games. This prevented me from tearing my hair out in frustration...

I dunno. Juggling those drivers around in the high memory to maximise the memory was half the fun! You got a sense of achievement if you got a game to just run properly.

Sort of like being able to change the plugs and do the timing on you car before the advent of computer modules and the like.... those were the days...

now I just reformat and try to reload everything and hope it lasts for 4-6 months before I have to do it again.

I must say, by using products like a good AV program, a VERY good firewall and a little program called tuneup utillities 2007 I dont have to many problems with my computer software, and I install and uninstall a LOT of games/programs on my PC....

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.
