I don't get it...

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

I don't get it...

Post by Valgua »

Hi! I never played the Decisive Battles series and I feel a little bit lost. Sometimes (more often than not) when I order an attack the conduct combat botton (the red one) appears grayed out. Why is that?

That's because the odds aren't good enough. You have to have at least 1.5-to-1 odds in your favour, if I remember correctly...

I believe somebody, SSG or Digital River, forgot to include/add the tutorial which is mentioned/pictured in the manual. Since nobody has said a word about it my guess it's a screw up and will be added in a patch OR they decided it wasn't worth it and are trying to get the nerve to come out and tell us[;)]. I have played all the DB series and pretty much can jump right in with BF...BUT...there is alot of changes that leave me confused so i need to re-read the manual.
Being that this is a big departure from the old series i can't see why they would neglect a tutorial for new customers. I remember way back when when i got Korsun Pocket, i had that game for months before i realised it wasn't as complicated as it appeared.

In my game the odds were -1. Still I don't understand why the player simply cannot take the chance and attack anyway. Why can't I play crazy general with no respect for my soldiers' life?

You can play a crazy general with no respect for your soldier's lives but those soldiers aren't robots. At some stage they are going to refuse completely suicidal orders.

In more game specific turns, we also need the ability to prevent players exploiting aspects of the game system by ordering those suicidal attacks. The minimum odds required are set in the Editor and you can always abandon all restraint if you wish to change the settings there.

Thanks for the explanation, it seems reasonable to me. The game is awesome. [;)]
