Larry/Buzz FITE mod
So um........the scenario we were playing most recently was flawed in that the Soviet Winter Offensive 41 didn't work and the Soviet Offensive 42 wasn't going to work either, etc. so we decided to start over with a fixed modded FitE scenario. This is the start over AAR.
Here's the list of changes made to FitE to make this modded scenario:
1. Changed Finland to enter war on the second turn which they did historically.
2. Changed the Soviet rifle squads to 35k available.
3. Changed the Soviet rifle squad base replacement rate to 3000 vice 3425.
4. Added Axis Theater Option which allows the Finns to cross the 1939 borders but increases Soviet production by 7%. Ends on turn 20.
5. Changed Soviet rail recovery to 6000 on turn 7.
6. Changed Soviet rail recovery to 12000 on turn 13.
7. Changed Soviet shock recovery to 90, they will be at this the
entire game except when it might go up for another event.
8. Changed the German heavy rifle squads for available to 1361 vice 361.
9. Corrected one coastal garrison to arrive at the correct location.
10. Corrected some spelling errors and changed Russian to Soviet in most cases in the events.
11. Placed most of the Soviet army to activate on turn 2. Some formations like the Leningrad and Moscow armies will be held in place longer.
12. Corrected FW190 (early) and (late) entries (reversed current entry production
turns)
13. Changed number of Mig-1’s to 50 on hand.
14. Changed Lagg-3 end date to turn 205.
TO BE DONE Later. Changed the German Inf Divs by removing the 105mm guns and placing them in the HQ. Added 150mm Hows, more mortars and AT guns to bring them up to est TOE.

Soviet turn 1
Here's the total Soviet losses in turn 1. The numbers indicate that the Axis forces killed some 77 Soviet units in turn 1.

Well, designer made this because FW 190 early have ANTI ARMOR 3 and FW 190 late have 2 !!!!
So because they made early model in fact model who was fighter bomber and late model fighter.
I have also many other notes on FiTE I had correspodence with designers... Many things had to be done because of TOAW limitations.
Of these changes many are not so logical to me. Who is crazy enought to attack with Finns and give Soviets 7% increase in production. (insane)
Second, increase of Soviet squads is also to much IMHO (ok replacement rate is lowered). Soviets can stop Germans - and Germans can win it's a matter of strategy and other factors.
Soviet shock 90% entire game. Nonsense. Maybe two month is enough. June and July. Even that maybe too much. Soviets were in shock but not so much and they pretty much organized themselves very fast because life threatening situation. I advise some good books to read.
There are maybe some other changes that I would put - but don't have notes at hand.

Sure a lot has to be simplified in a scenario with that scope. Take the Armoured Cars for instane. You guys can bang your heads about the other stuff if you like, but i'd like to know one thing, about the guns. Why have they chosen to use the 150mm Howitzer instead the Gun? And the 100mm ER Gun within the Panzer/PanzerGren.Div HQs?
So if you have contact with them, you could point them to this thread instead of fighting a proxy war. Thanks.

Hey Monkeys you are probably correct but so far I have only seen the russians stop the germans along the Smolensk line then the game is basically over in 42. I know you have seen more then me but I have laid out my persceptions in other threads.
If these changes don't work then I will change them again. Having the Soviets have free movement on the first few turns I really think is incorrect. Everything I have read or discussed with game designers have indicated the total confusion of the soviet armies the first days.
Heck why would the soviets invade Iran that is a theater option, they are options only.
So the shock might be to much, ok I want to find out and Larry is nice enough to play this mod with me. This is a neat game system, it allows us to mess with it.
I again want to say that the designers have done a super job with this scenario. The hours I have played it have paid for the game many times over in just 2 months.

Axis turn 1

I want to track an pz regt again this game. This will be Colonel Zap's battle reports:
Attacks started at H-hour but our regt didn't get the orders to move for 24 hours. Once the inf blew a hole we were tasked to push the enemy covering division aside and open the hole wided. This was accomphished with light casualties.

It was not hard at all... Yes, I am notorius Bloodstar.hehe did this so that my old usenet enemy Oleg Mastruko not see me here ...just joking of course. hehe
Soren, main designer was in artylery I guess in Danish army. He also have put arty from 1950's into Soviet pool after testing some values... I have really big collection of emails with designers, anybody wants to buy it for 10000 euros? LOL

OK, sorry Zort for my rude apperance - you are right of course! Try it out and see what is best. I hope that I will have time later to see my email exchanges with designers soon - there I also proposed some stuff.
Yes, it is one of best scenarios for TOAW. Top 3.
Other is The Great War 2.0 by Daniel McBride. I am also sending all suggestions to Daniel regarding this scenario.
It's almost transcendal experience lol
Maybe to write a book "Spiritual move into realms of TOAW" sure bestseller! haha

Lol - it wasn't too hard to find out, Mario. It's been your writing style. I know that you are a big fan of FitE, so..
Hopefully the designers will make use of the 499 additional events we have..hm, maybe this would make TOAW3 more interesting for you?
