Why Should I Buy This Game? I Need Feedback Please

Post by Randall12 »

I am new to this forum. I'm asking for your advice.

I live in Las Vegas, originally from New Jersey, and have been very interested in Canadian football for some time now. Unfortunately I have been unable to watch the CFL as not many games make it to our TV market here. Back in 1990 I was able to order a CFL Record & Stat book through the Ottawa Rough Rider organization. They were nice enough to include some decals for the Grey Cup played in Vancouver and a few other stickers etc. Sorry, I have gone off in another story.

I'm looking for a game where I can create teams, create leagues, create logos and play multiple seasons. I'm also looking for a game that keeps multiple offensive and defensive statistics, allows these stats to be sorted and printed, and stores them through multiple seasons. Is this the right game for me?

I have seen the posts of many of this forums members. I would love to be able to design the logos, uniforms and stadiums that you guys do. I am not well versed in making changes to programs etc. Is it difficult to do these changes/creations?

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

I forgot to mention.  If I want to actually play the game, which controller is the best?

Hey Randall12/Mike,

Without sounding too presumptuous, yes is does appear this game is for you. Most of the things you have mentioned above is what the game is founded upon.

There are two things that this game falls down on in your criteria: One, it cannot currently sort stats. In each category, the players are listed alphabetically, and that's it.

Two, the stats aren't kept (at least in the game itself) from year to year. You can see what the players season stats and career totals are, but you couldn't go back and see what your running back did three years ago.

Outsides of that you have total control over the leagues size, it's make up, the teams logos. Just about everything.

If you're looking at a controller to play the Arcade Mode for Maximum Football, you'll need controller with at least 6 buttons I'm using a Logitech Dual Action, which is a PlayStation2 clone controller, but I've heard the Xbox controllers work well, too.

Actually, with the 1.3.139 patch, you can sort stats.

Hi.

1st. Yes, you can sort stats. Most of the spread sheets have sortable columns.

2nd. Yes, stats are kept from year to year in the database. I have not yet built a way to expose those yet though so currently you have historical(all seasons combined) and current season only.

3rd, I have tested the game with a number of Gravis game pads and they all work well. Unfortunately, Gravis seems to have moved on to the great game controller company in the sky... The XBox360 controller is fully supported. Just plug it in, let Windows get the driver, and away you go.

Thanks
David

Oh.. I don't suppose you had a chance to attend a Las Vegas Posse game? I still have one of the T-shirts.. they're quite a collectors item now.

I echo the above sentiments. And, I have used a Gravis, a generic gamepad, and Currently a Logitech. All worked fine.
My thrustmaster flight stick also shows in the selection part, but I havent tried it yet.
I mainly use that for shooting down Luftwaffe fighters and Zeros.

My pitch for this game is that it is now everything and more, that many had hoped the FootballPro series would one day be. And its better, in my opinion, than any Madden. Except graphics, but thats a matter of taste.

Madden will always be king of screwing over other sports game developers, and adding random crap for you to do in Franchise mode. Really, the game puts more emphasis on movie and commercial roles than making it to the superbowl...

Its a shame. Had they continued to add and expand on features, as opposed to becoming an NFL only game, it would be fantastic.
