Transport Questions...

Post by Murphie »

I'm running a CHS Mod.

I have a TF that I want to transport oil from Miri to Kagoshima. I selected Tanker when I built my TF and since I wanted to move about 10k of oil per trip, the TF has 1 AK @ 5670 Cap., 1TK @ 6000 Cap., and a PG for ASW support. So I get my TF to Miri and submit orders for loading oil with the destination being Kagoshima. I checked the TF 2 or 3 turns later and it is north of Vigan with the AK loaded with 32 supplies and the TK loaded with 200 oil... Why does the AK have Resources and why did the TF not load 11670 of oil?

Something of a similiar vein, I created a Tanker TF @ Singapore with 1 AK @ 5000 Cap. and sent it to Medan, Sumatra, to start running oil to Kagoshima. I can load fuel, resources, supplies, and troops but not oil... What's up with that?

While AK can carry fuel (presumably in drums), they will not carry oil (oil doesn't come out of the ground in drums[;)]). If you set a transport TF to load resources, the TK/AO will load oil, and the AK/AP will load resources.

Miri is always a problem. The port is too small. Build it up to a 2 and you will probably have better luck shipping out oil.

Ahhh - that makes sense with the AKs. And I'll try the level 2 port idea also - thanks!

Just curious - why does it allow AKs to be selected under a tanker mission?

I max out the ports of all my oil producing bases (rather I should say my shipping centers not ALL the oil bases) and the resource/supply base east of Palembang (Tobali or something like that). The bigger your port is, the faster they load / unload and the more they can hold without spoilage.

Hi Yamato Hugger,

Again some excellent advice that I will take to heart. There's so much to this game that isn't really covered in the manual.

Heh, actually it is in the manual, just not easy to find. Thats why I keep my rules in the "thinking room" [;)]
