Naval HQ Question

Post by Murphie »

Hi all,

In Japan I have the Combined Fleet, Naval HQ with a radius of 9 and the 1st Fleet, Naval HQ, with a radius of 1. They are both in Okayama, which has 1AR and Repair Docks = 100. I *think* the port size is 8 (I just don't remember right now).

Do the two HQ units stack for repair of shipping in some form similiar to what an Army Command HQ and Army Corps HQ do?

If I want to change leadership in my HQ units to increase repair of my shipping, do I go for leaders with higher admin skills? Or does this not really have an effect on ship repair?

If I understand the manual correctly the HQ, AR, Port Size, and Repair Dock (and I *think* admin skill for leadership in HQ units) all contribute to ship repair but I really don't understand how... Can someone please explain it to me? Thanks!
Respectfully,

I haven't fully figured out HQs myself. Since there is so much randomness in the game, it is difficult to measure the effects of this or that.

This thread has attempted to pull together all the known wisdom in the game: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1274014

There are 3 or 4 links to threads about headquarters.

I am unsure if they stack but I can attest that they do help a lot. I fast transported the Combined Fleet HQ to several small ports to save damaged ships.

Ok i have another question for HQ experts.

Japan ground force is divided between "regular" IJA and IJN HQs...

"Regular" (read command HQs) are BAA, CEA, SAA and IJN HQs are Southeast Fleet, 4th Fleet - they are described as Naval HQs so does it means that they don't provide combat bonus to units assigned to them??

There has been some speculation about this, but IIRC nothing conclusive.

They are defined as Naval HQs in the database an so is Combined Fleet HQ, so I don't think that they can provide combat bonus for LCUs, but one has to wonder what is the purpose of their command radius.

Like wdolson said, it's dificult to test...so it seems that only devs can provide a definite answer.
