bug

Post by handihoc »

I'm caught in a loop. Playing second op in the new Grand Campaign, Fuger's Ostlich. Germans against AI. I win the first battle, move to second map, win that and, instead of progressing to the third and last map, get thrown back to map 1 with original settings. Play again, play map 2, and the same happens. Can't progress to third map at all, no matter how many times I beat the enemy.

We can try and replicate this, but I doubt it (It would have been picked up in the pre-release testing).

We can suspect a Corrupted Operations File.

How are you 'saving' your games?  Do you just use the Name you give when you first launch (defaults to Fuger's Ostliche Wut), and keep on using that through the Campaign, or do you (also) save the games as you go along and re-load from them?

WHen you say "get thrown back to map 1 with original settings." can you be more specific?  Is that thrown back with the same Teams/Units/Points/etc etc..?

It is very odd what is happening.  I thought Gremlins were fictional!...

thanks for reply.

I save the games under the name German Campaign1, and keep that name as I go along, reloading from it.

When I get 'thrown back' to Map 1, I can choose Teams, units, etc, but the map settings (deployment zones, Victory Location ownership) are as they were first time, even though I conquered that map.

Yes, it's a strange little Gremlin. I'm now replaying as the Russians, but haven't yet advanced to that Op so don't know if it'll happen again.

It's not the 2 minute warning error is it?

Are you playing with your settings set with 2 minute warning ticked?

Nope. It's not that. I actually win the battle, then instead of advancing, find myself back on Map 1.

Playing it the other way, as Russians, I've now got past the danger point without a hitch. Some time I'll try it again as Germans and see how it works out.

handihoc, if you want, send the saved game file which precedes the 'loop' (if you still have it) to beeblebrox@closecombat.org and we can take a look at it.

Cheers.

Beeblebrox,

Did you get anywhere with that 'loop' bug I posted? I sent you the saved game a while ago.

I'm well advanced in the same campaign, but playing as other side (Rus), and have had no problem. Whatever it was affected the Germans only, it seems.
