First impressions great! but....

Post by ArtilleryHorse »

As a I have played all the past cc and belonged to cases way back when, I would just like to say that I think you have done an excellent job sprucing up this game!

That said, I notice some of the pathing issues are still there, for example I send my troops across the south bridge in the first campaign game from west to east and half of them get hung up on the west side, not a big problem, I will get over it.

Also, I find the options for speed a little wacked. I have to put the scroll speed for the map on slow and even then it zips around the map. I put the game speed to fast and the men still move very sluggish, I don't remember these issues.

I then dusted off a copy of the bulge (cc4), installed it and the game speed is working fine, what or why is this happening? Is there any way to mod the game so the scroll is slower and the game speed is faster?

thx

Put a waypoint at the west end of the bridge and one east end of the bridge. If the bridge is really small it is recommend to put an additional one on the middle of the bridge.

Did I understand correctly that little was done to the AI. It seems the game is geared to mult-player?

I think you may have misunderstood what you heard. The AI for single player has been signifiacantly tweeked to improve many of the original CC3's pathing and actions on contact parts of the code. Those tweeks create a noticable improvement over the original.

Any game AI can only be just so clever or brilliant. Most fall far short of that, and to an extent, so do the CC series AI's, but I say they are better than most.

The Close Combat games have always been best experienced in playing against another human player. While randomization in single play battles will give you some change ups, there is nothing quite so ready to totally mess up your battle plan like another human player. The Battle HQ utility enhances a player's ability to pick up a game with another person with the same tweeks provided to the single player AI.
