Small scenarios for AB's map?

Post by tsimmonds »

Sometimes those turns in PBEM just aren't coming fast enough, and you have a choice between starting another PBEM, playing vs the AI, or doing something that would be constructive IRL (shudder). Personally, I don't have time for more than one PBEM, and playing a campaign vs the AI just doesn't do it for me.

I do like the smaller scenarios vs the AI, but I prefer AB's map. I have converted scenario 6 to use AB's map; has anyone out there done the necessary translation for any of the other smaller scenarios, eg. Coral Sea or Guadalcanal?

Hmmm, what would it take to do such a conversion?

The map boundaries have to be adjusted. Every base and every TF at sea has to be moved to the correct location.

I have a converted versions of the following scenarios on my scenario page: 3, 4, 9, 13, 15, 16. I have never made a conversion of scenario 6, and would be happy to host it if you are interested.

And if there are any LCU's or airgroups in the scenario, those have to get moved too :D

AB, pm.[;)]
I have a converted versions of the following scenarios on my scenario page:

There they all are, thanks for that!

edit: DAyum, where have I been? What a great site!

JW, I couldn't remember if the LCUs and air units were located on the map, or whether they were located at bases.

Air groups, ships not in task forces and all reinforcements (air, sea and land) are located at bases, so should not be a problem (unless the bases themselves change slots - and a small number do for my full map scenarios). Task forces and LCUs use map coordinates, so do have to be converted.

By the way, I should mention that I have a script that does all this automatically. It does need additional data depending on the scenario start date, however, which is why I have never converted ALL of the stock scenarios.

Now that you mention it, I do remember going through the starting LCUs one by one and changing their hex coordinates; what a royal PIA!![X(][:@][>:]

It's amazing that any scenarios ever get created or modded. [&o][&o]

Oh yeah, a Guadalcanal paired with AB's map would be perfect [:D]
