Unable to get format on Stream

Post by jonny211 »

Hi all,

I was a huge fan of CCIII and hope this version will live up to it's predecessor....

... trouble is that it doesn't run at all. After the install I hit play, a bit of music plays and then I get an error box 'Close Combat Error - Unable to get format on Stream'.

Any ideas how I get past this, is it attempting to stream an mpg?

Cheers for now.

Download and install the old Intel Codex from http://www.closecombat.org/CSO/index.ph ... erby=dateD

If that doesn't work, hold down the Ctrl key when initiating the game .exe. That will open the Options window. In the General tab, uncheck the Enable Videos box and close the window. The game should launch.

Many thanks for the quick reply Erik, thought it might be something like that.

BTW I've played 20mins so far and it's every bit as good as I remember. Keep up the good work!

Disabling videos with ctrl+exe worked for me. I didnt get the error message though, just a black screen with the arrow - might be useful for those seeing the same.
