You have one CV with 20-30 sys? Is that the Taiho you have out hunting stragglers? [X(]

It is [:)] She can still do some 25 knots and is escorted by the light cruiser Kiso and 5 destroyers.
Also got a replenishment group, a seaplane tender and 5 subs in the area.
Just a diversion, but I have to keep away from the enemy carrier TFs...and there are plenty of them.

RE: Paras land on Andaman Islands!
Nice going smashing the 3rdUSMC Div , wont recover till the game is almost over imo. I'm wishing the same sort of result for Pauk in his game vs andy.
Just my opinion but i also agree with nemo about the china affair. and lack of AV support in china he could remedy by flying in some
from (wherever is closest) or if not in range. he could make gaining access to an air bridge to china a strategic goal rather than just taking bases for points.
good luck hunting with the taiho (brave move)

sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit
RE: Paras land on Andaman Islands!
You have to read Andy's AAR to check whether the Miri landing was a diversion or not - but the result was the same - worn out USMC div [:)]
Moving out with the Taiho could be a stupid move, we'll see. A bit late to intercept the major trickle of cripples it seems.
Andy has cancelled his plans about a new front in China and closing down my training camps.
I've told him I will reduce their efficiency to 200 fighters and 200 bombers at any time. LBA can be trained through supply missions.
So now I have to sit down and decide which units I should train [:'(]
100 Judy's and 100 Grace as well as 50 George, 50 Jack, 50 Zeke and 50 Franks I guess. Training will be markedly shorter than before, up
to an average of ca 55-60. Will train some George groups to higher levels before they upgrade to the Shinden.

RE: Paras land on Andaman Islands!
Andy is keeping some cv's near the Bonins and pouring 4Es over the islands.
I'm resting my Air Force and trying to re-organize my forces.
The enemy picked up the 3rd USMC and headed away in a hurry, bad weather prevented strikes.
Gawd, how many times have this happened to us before. Andy is certainly a friend with the weather gods if nothing else! [:'(]
There are a lot of militia divisions in Japan right now. Not expanding them, makes it easier to release them.
Going to wait for Andy's next move before doing anything more. Think there are enough troops in the Bonins.

The Reppu fighter has been accelerated by 1 month to 06/45! Only 4 months away.
The Shinden is still 08/45 with 116 being researched.
I will slowly move bombers away from the training camps in China until I reach the 200 fighters/bombers
I've promised. A gradual reduction in training activities in other words. The 'emergency' camps in Manchuko
are ready and can take some 500 ac.

Industry 01/45 vs Industry 11/44
Ca 2.5 months since the last industry comparison. According to my calculations we have
reserves to last throughout 1945! The last 2 months of the war we'll manage on what we got
in the pools.
![]()
One thing you should keep an eye on while counting your stocks:
while HI and manpower are generic off-map stocks, oil and resources are only of use near HI centers and supply you need where you are fighting. Fuel shouldn't matter that much anymore [;)]
So, stockpiles of oil and resources building up in Java, Sumatra and Borneo are worthless and might skew your estimation of actual strategic reserves. Similarly, though at a lesser extend, this also applies to India, Burma and maybe Thailand with just a limited amount of HI.
Regarding the supplies in those secondary theatres - well, as they are still theatres and see some fighting (apart from India) the supplies there are not totally 'lost' as they help you delay his progress. I guess you wouldn't mind him capturing 1Mio supplies in India either - as long as he comes there fighting; not to mention the logistic task for him to get it to the front - so it would be most likely not going to affect the main battle for Japan anyway, apart for the diversion of his forces.
However, the point remains that you can't expect that you get the most out of these supplies either - an optimistic estimation for the remote supply stockpiles might be 20% usage, resp. 80% 'spoilage' as not effectively contributing to the main battle.
Just to shed a slightly more critical view on some numbers.
You are certainly in a great shape as Japan this late in the war

And it is always fun to check out this thread and find RO39 (RIP) sinking 3 american DDs in a single day [X(]
RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
Thx for the reminder, very true what you say! But I do have some HI in India that runs on oil and resources in this theatre.
Same with China. Production of oil in Palembang and Borneo is not much use, that's also true. Still, I have moved 100k resources and 250k
supplies from India and Java over the last 4 months. A vulnerable supply line goes from Karachi - Columbo - Batavia - Kuching - PI - Home Islands.
Think it should be possible to make what we got left last us another 9-10 months at least.
RO-39 hit 3 crippled DDs - still not a bad job [:)]
Hitting cripples is one of the few jobs my subs are good at. The other 2 are: spotting for night naval ac and laying mines...
At times I don't know whether I'm 'defending too hard' or not. By this I mean the great masses of ac and ships I pump into the Bonins.
In return Andy is taking big risks peforming landings that would have made even MacArthur cry [;)]
Guess I'm pretty un-willing to surrender areas critical for the defense of the Home Islands before I have shot my bolt both in the air
and on the sea. Not much left of the navy, but Andy will find that the AF is astonishingly resiliant. I'm spending most of the time on each turn
patching and healing my Sentai and Daitai's.
10 more days and we upgrade to the Tony-100. Got 72 crack fighters ready to take the new model.

patching and healing my Sentai and Daitai's.
10 more days and we upgrade to the Tony-100. Got 72 crack fighters ready to take the new model.

RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
Took a look and found some 700k oil in the Home Islands alone.
I wonder why Matrix decided that air units that converts to Kamikaze can't be returned to 'normal' squadrons!?
With the low efficiency of kamiz Japan has to convert all her AF to gain even minimal results.
Disbanded units SHOULD be returned like conventional air units if the player wants it to.

not trying to dispute with your warfare genius[;)] but do you really think that weakening PI is smart thing?
How do you think to send arm div and inf units to Burma - unless you thought ship them to Thailand (or Vietnam)?... that would be logical....
Defending Burma has some benefits - Andy can't transport air support to China while you control it... but sooner or latter you will loose your training ground and it is better to keep your strength in your Inner circle IMO.... As far as i know there is no need to train your future Shindens to 70-80 level - 50-60 will do the job (you can disband other groups to airgroups which upgrade to Shinden and have twice more pilots - that would be enough for Mustangs, Corsairs, Spits and co[;)])

RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
I've been thinking about what kind of response we should give Andy's offensive in Burma and the Bonins.
If he's prosecuting a double offensive I'm pretty sure we don't have to worry about him invading anywere else [;)]
Burma
As I've stated, Army Reserves will attempt to delay and halt the enemys advance south of Rangoon and Bangkok.
The Air Force will provide support, mostly hit and run missions. An enemy advance in this area so late in the war is to be expected and
will not be crucial for the survival of the Empire. Andy's plan is obviously to capture bases from were he can shut down our training camps in China.
We have plans to counter this as well [:)]
Bonins
This is by far the most dangerous offensive, all resources will be used to prevent the enemy's capture of the Bonins.
Having reinforced the islands heavily with men and supplies I will await Andy's next move before committing further reserves.
A question:
Does A6M5 Zekes that upgrade to the A6M8 Zeke usually also upgrade to the A7M Reppu?
Very few of my current Daitai's show an upgrade path to the Reppu. Logically all A6M series ac should be upgradable to the A7M!

Ah, great minds think in the same way (see my post above)[;)][:D]
as for research - if you have enough supply you can expand rd for shinden - 119 rd points for them looks like you will get this "solid" [:D] ac accelerated by one month...if....

RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
The PI's is serving as theater reserve and Manila alone holds some 1500 AP with another 1500 AP in Luzon.
Sending out 1000 AP should be ok. I'm in the process of withdrawin a large 99 exp division from the south to replace them.
Think I have to be strong were I choose to fight Andy. The plan is to ship the troops to Camhranh Bay from Manila!
If Andy invades the PI's we will respond by moving in troops from Formosa while replacing these with troops drawn out from other
secondary theatres.
It's possible to move our training camps to north eastern China and Manchuko if need be.
By the time this happends we should be in May 45 already. Want to have 600 George and Jacks ready for conversion to the Shinden as soon
as possible, hopefully by June/July 45!

RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
We're not on PDU...that's why I'm uncertain about the value of researching the A7M!
Hoping to get the Shinden accelerated 2 months, June 45 would be nice [:)][:)][&o]
I'm expanding Betty bomber production as well as Shinden research. Not sure which ac I should halt production.
I need my Army bombers, fighters as well as navy fighters and bombers. Night figthers is a useless drain, stopped most of them.
Transports are needed and patrol and search planes are shot down in droves no matter how high and fast they fly [:(]
Producing 120 Dinah IIIs pr month and it can't even replace losses. Horrible!
Maybe it's time to close down the Oscar II plant? Only annoying thing is that this will ground 20 Army Sentais [:(]
Of the other Army fighters I want to keep: Tony 100 and Frank.
Naval fighters: Zeke, Jack, George. Halted production of the latter as we have 950 in the pools. Even with 600 Zekes coming
of the production line pr month I'm struggling to replace losses. All but out of Tony's and some 150 Jacks left.
Not sure how much I need the fighter bombers; the A6M5 Zeke C and Randy. Will receive 6-7 Daitais of the FB Zeke soon, not sure
what will happen as I don't have many Zeke Cs in the pool.
As a curiosity: 1 *one* A7M Reppu production ac came of the production lines before the end of the war [;)]
Production: A total of 10 A7Ms were built by Mitsubishi Jukogyo K.K. at Nagoya as follows:
2 A7M1 prototypes
7 A7M2 prototypes and Service trials aircraft
1 A7M2 production aircraft

Since the Home Islands are not exposed to bombing I think it would have been possible to start production of the Reppu
in June 45 and the Shinden by 7-8 45. Same with other models. Unfortunate that the Bearcat isn't included in the game either.
Anyone seen it in a mod?
Guess not many have played the game into late 45!?

RE: Tokyo Rose: Victories in the Bonins!
I have launched 2 new cunning plans!
Since we're running out of names for our cunning plans they're simply called:
Cunning Plan # 1 and 2 [:D]
Cunning Plan # 1
The risks:
*)Huge losses to enemy CAP.
This should be negated by Andy's need to operate large number of bombers and sweep ac from Marcus Island.
*) Bad weather and uncoordinated strike. The most annoying cause of failure to our cunning plans....
*) We could loose the bulk of our long range naval strike ac.
The Benefits:
*) Andy will be forced to put more fighters on CAP and fewer on sweep missions against the Bonins
*) Lots of damaged ships in a small port that can be finished. Betty's at 15k feet will be dropping HUGE boom booms [:)]
Stay tuned for Cunnin Plan # 2 [8D]
