Arnhem Bridge

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Arnhem Bridge

Post by Johnus »

Playing as Allies against Axis AI in Market Garden (set to Computer Normal, next time I'll use Computer + as recommended). AI giving me a good run for the money. Now Poles land south of the Rhine and there are no Germans guarding the southern entrance to the bridge at Arnhem. The Poles are able to reinforce Frost on the bridge. Is this a fluke in my game ? It would only take a few units to seal off the bridge. Even if the Germans were unable to get below the Rhine quickly, a unit or two from Nijmegen would do it. Does the AI need a patch or tweak here ?

Perhaps, but in the games we ran, the AI was able to eliminate Frost before the Poles arrived, thus avoiding the problem of having to peel off a unit or two from Nijmegen, where they are sorely needed.

I have seen this play out with both outcomes.

I have played MG 5 times now:
The first two games were learning experiences which don't count.
The 3rd time saw Frost wiped out by turn 8 and XXX Corps stalled south of Arnhem.
The 4th time Frost held out long enough for the Irish Bde of XXX Corps to cross into the city of relieve Frost.
The 5th time the 1st Airborne Bde was able to reach and support Frost's position and hold off the Hun until XXX Corps arrived.

All results against Axis AI+1. Look forward to PBEM. Other humans are much more devious!
