Anyone working on a BSG mod?

Post by NytCrie »

I'm downloading the game as I type and decided to see what mods were available already for when i burn through the (unfortunately solo) campaigns. I'm really digging Battlestar Galactica (the current version, not the original; please, no debates) and wondered if anyone here is working on a mod for it. I just think that would be really cool, especially if the campaing allowed for replaying through the initial assault on the colonies up to the present (with maybe some filler, fan-made missions during the less action-oriented periods in the show). I'm short on time and knowledge or else I'd work on it myself, not to say I couldn't lend a hand here or there.

I'd ask about good ole Wing Commander as well (would be awesome with the flight model options here; newtonian and semi-newtonian), but I'm suce somebody (if not half a community somewhere) is already all over that one.

Thinking about it... Wing Commander would be great! I loved it and I think it would still make a great background for a new game. They had so many great designs in the earlier games (the later ones were a bit bland since the early 3d-graphics couldn't really calculate the fancier older models).

Yes, WC would be great, especially if somebosy got really ambitious and essentially remade the entire series (optional/extra content included).  Of course, that would be such an undertaking that it would likely never get finished, but it would be interesting to see.  I know I'd download and play that one all the way through (kiss the social life good-bye for a few weeks, lol).

You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

The only BTG game that I know of is a MOD of Freelancer II (I think that it) called "Beyond the Red Line"

But I'm with you, I think Starshatter would lend itself to be the perfect platform for a Battlestar Mod

Hey [:)]

I have a few of coxxon bsg ships in starshatter right now.  I have replaced the stock models with the Galactica, Mk2,Mk7, Raptor and the shuttle.  Tried to keep it balanced to the other stock ships.  Right now I am just playing through the stock campaign. Really haven't tried making my own campign yet.
But if you need any of the ships or def files I got, just ask.  [:D]

Actually there is a BSG mod, it was created by Starbuck and is based on the original series. It was available on grouper when it was up a few weeks ago. If another hosting location is found perhaps it could be made available there...

A few other mods that once were available on grouper...
Star trek TOS
Babylon 5
Starwars
plus 4 or 5 original mods by various members of this community.

and, as mentioned, there were many unfinished projects

All great mods with great potential for mission or campaign creations.

Hopefully a new location is found so other can continue to enjoy them.

I can give them out to whomever wants them, but I am away for the holidays until wednesday Jan 3. If you just want the models, They were released at Bridgecommanderfiles under the name "Thewholefrakkingfleet". You maybe able to google that and find it.  The Galactica model has the railguns on it. You will have to remove them and make them seperate for the weapons.  I have already done that, so if you can wait until wednesday[8|], fine. If your able to do that yourself, goodluck[:)].  Would be cool to have the cockpits though, Not sure how to make them with the sensors showing up.[8|]

Hi I was wondering if I could get any of your files so I can play around with your mods, and maybe work on a Campaign.

Thanks

[:)]  Well  Badger and I are working on one. Using Coxxons great models.
We could use some help with making a static campaign and missions. Currently we are getting some ships together "Deffing them". What we need are destroyer and frigate varients. We have some that are kitbashed, but AncientAngels' ship is really unique. Anybody that can model or texture would be a great help too.
The next main thing is the missions to develope. I must confess that is one area that I have not really looked into yet.

Salutatons,

A VERY impressive set of craft. You guys should be able to come up with a great BSG mod with some good missions to put the ships/craft through their paces.

How many have been deffed yet? Everything looks promising. [:'(]

Keep em flying.

Hello guys Im new here, tho I was reading the forums for a couple of weeks now. I see the BSG got quite a fan base here. I love these models, quite impressive!!! Now tell me which of the models are the ones from the new series and which from the old? (just a personal inquiry) Also what is the status of this mod exactly?

What I would suggest is someone to write down the script of the series so far (battlewise) for mission design. I'd do it myself, but here in greece they dont even show the series yet!

Thats all for now.

Salutations,

I am actively updated the ships textures to include, bumb, spec, and illumination. I've put my head engineer, Thadeaus Tween, to work. He's as happy as a pig in the mud.
