What Is Your Favorite War Movie Music?
For capturing the "flavor" of a movie, my all-time fave is the soundtrack to "Das Boot".
However it's hard to beat these five distinctive themes. As soon as you hear them, you know what's coming on:
1. "Bridge Over the River Kwai"
2. "Lawrence of Arabia"
3. "Band of Brothers"
4. "Glory"
5. "Gettysburg"

btw Glenn Miller was accidently killed by a bomb discharged from a wounded plane over the channel whilst he was enroute to a gig for the troops...(I think that the "official rumor"[;)])...

The Russian film Aleksandr Nevskiy had some nice music that went with it.

"Lawrence of Arabia" soundtrack is my number one pick. The cinematography and music complement each other better than any other movie I've ever seen. "Dr. Zhivago" is a close second.

I always liked the song the British soldiers sang in Zulu. Wish I knew the name of that tune. (Welshmen will not yield?)

In Zulu the song was called "Men of Harlech"
My fav tune is the theme from Kelley's Heroes - Burning Bridges
You can purchase the original song but you cannot purchase the sountrack from the movie with the arty strikes.

was just thinking, no-ones mentioned this yet - the opening tune, with the plane flying over the mountains - got you ready for a top, old style war film
