Over in Oz, the "A" RCT of the 2ID arrived just in the nick of time to help hold Wyndham against a "shock" attack by roughly 2 RCT equivalents ... the "worry" is probably over for Wyndham ... now the battles shifts over to Derby/Broome. We will transport the "C" RCT of 2ID over to Derby ASAP for an overland attack on Broome. Looks like 4ID (still at Darwin) won't be going anywhere soon. In the mean time we have to go ahead and do Kendari, so we're moving the invasion force to Amboina to pick up a couple of SNLFs.

And up in CBI ... a big Chinese stack is moving from Changsha on Wuhan ... our "speed bump" will buy us a day to react. The Wuhan fort level is up to 9 now and it is an urban hex, so we're hoping we can hold !!!

Second day of the USN Carrier strike on Rabaul ... Moses certainly is "bold" .. I figured he'd hit from 4 hexes out and positioned my subs accordingly, but he came right in to two hex range ... the Americans slammed the (now empty) transports trying to "hide" in the port ... and our Nells, Betty's and Zeros at Rabaul hit back, details below. For the next day we flew in one more Zero Chutai and 3 more Nell Chutai ... and since he hasn't hit the airbase yet, we will still be a credably threat for day three, if Moses decides to stick around. Oh, turns out that AK group I thought was trying to "soak off" actually had a purpose, they are trying to pick up the survivors from Rabaul ... so that is fair ...

Hum, not sure what Moses is thinking ... he kept up the USN carrier attack against Rabaul for the third day!!

He finally hit Rabaul itself, putting some damage on the facilities, but in return, looks like we got decent damage on Lex ... now both Sara and Lex may get away, but best case they'll be yarding for most of the next several months .. and this will give us some freedom of action we weren't counting on ... worst case, he loses them, but that doesn't seem to be of concern [&:] ... I mean this can't be unintentional ... only thing I can conjure up is that he is just figuring these carriers are "freebees" because of the "respawn" ... but if so, he's the first player I've run in to that thought that way ... so "Confused In INHQ" [&:]

Well, Moses has indicated to me that in fact "mistakes were made" on the Allied side regarding day 3 of the USN Carrier raid into the Solomon Sea. He was supposed to be withdrawing, etc.

But on day 4 the USN get their act together and sort out the proper "Rock, Paper, Scissors" approach and send in a Bombardment to shut down Rabaul AF.

Well, Moses has indicated to me that in fact "mistakes were made" on the Allied side regarding day 3 of the USN Carrier raid into the Solomon Sea. He was supposed to be withdrawing, etc.

I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that the skipper was under the influence! [:D] Hmm, isn't that a very serious offence?
Where's the Any key?

A couple of relatively quiet days ... the USN withdraws from the Solomon Sea ... our subs miss the carriers ... Rabaul recovers ... we are sending all the subs in the area towards the main East Coast Oz ports and to Noumea in the slim hope of picking off one of the carriers, but we're not counting on it.

In CBI we start our Army moving forth from Yenen to try to take some more Chinese cities ... and the 33ID crosses the Irrawaddy.

In the Celebes our invasion of Kendari will go in tomorrow.

In Oz we are moving some forces over to reinforce Derby, mean time the Ozzians have withdrawn from besiging Wyndham, not sure why.

We are starting to assemble to shipping and get ready to load up for Java.

This turns we start cranking up the volume on our ASW activities in the area around Truk-Rabaul and the Admiralties ... all three bases now have a DB group flying ASW ... we'll show the air results on the next post (Op Rpt) but the spots did also make a difference in terms of the surface forces, finding, attacking and even in getting a few (real) hits.

Look at all those USN subs out there ... we have a 27 strong group of Anns at Truk and Rabaul .. and a 27 strong group of Mary's at Admiralties. This gives us decent coverage over the "Bismarck Triangle" ... formed by Rabaul=>Admiralties=>Truk ...

On the "flip side" .... our subs ... we're trying to pursue the two damaged USN Charlie Victors .... so we have 5 I boats pursing to the East Ozian Coast ... and three others pursing to Noumea ... the RO boats can't get there, so they're staying in place ...

In Northern Oz .. the current point of contention is Derby .. we have about 50 AV in Derby ... Moses has 100+ AV bearing down on us from one hex away .. we have 2 RCTs in route ... but we will need to massively fly in reinforcements from Wyndham ... we have a lot of guys there, the question is it "too little" ...
