Japan sent a small TF to bombard the new base at medan with minimal losses. I am going to
send some torp bombers to Bankha as i have 70 odd lightnigs there to act as escorts. The
Planes had to go to Kuala today as a transfer airfield. The commandos are still hauling
men and supplies forward to the new bases.

Naval bombardment of Bankha, at 20,47

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
DD Asanagi
DD Asagiri
DD Ikazuchi
DD Shiratsuyu
CA Chokai
CA Tone
CA Kako

Allied ground losses:
55 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Runway hits 3
Port fuel hits 2
Port supply hits 1

Might have to try and find some CD guns for here, no idea where the nearest nes are TBH
Or even if the british have any at all ?

OK We give up ! these resources are bomb proof , back to bangkok tomorrow

Day Air attack on Bandou , at 25,41

Japanese aircraft
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 3

Allied aircraft
F-5A Lightning x 3
B-25J Mitchell x 44
B-17E Fortress x 31

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Allied forces attempted to finish off the japanese in the jungles aeound medan .. very wierd
result. and the commonwealth inf brigades are shot to bits 50% disabled ?

Ground combat at Medan

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 20090 troops, 146 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 324

Defending force 5960 troops, 9 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 101

Allied max assault: 233 - adjusted assault: 182

Japanese max defense: 91 - adjusted defense: 307

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
75 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Allied ground losses:
488 casualties reported
Guns lost 24

OUCH !..

Lunga also looks tough too (see piccie)..

Ground combat at Lunga

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 27246 troops, 255 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 659

Defending force 32928 troops, 215 guns, 9 vehicles, Assault Value = 484

Japanese ground losses:
15 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

I suspect level 9 forts here too, this might take a while as i'm having to funnel men
through tassaforonga and its a slow trail to lunga. In the mean time we are considering
assaulting russel island(one unit) and tulagi (4 units). Pondering ATM.

2nd day the british artillery hit the japanese again at medan ..

Ground combat at Medan

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 627 troops, 22 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 284

Defending force 5922 troops, 6 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 103

Humm .. must be a big terrain bonus i didnt count on for the previous attack, its of no
matter really as they can starve. I'm not too keen on using this as a live fire exercise
for fighters to get experince but imo its ok to use the mud movers (bombers).

Lunga defenders.

Where are the support troops at Lunga? Looks like you are missing an base force and an HQ unit at least? ...[8|]

You will be bogged down there for a while unless Joe is running low on supplies.

What is the status of the Wake Island/CenPac offensive? [;)]

You will be bogged down there for a while unless Joe is running low on supplies.

What is the status of the Wake Island/CenPac offensive? [;)]

Your right about the HQ [:-], it's in luganville. totally forgotten about it ! whoops.
as for base forces i have a lot in rennel to sail in when the place falls, as they do
no good in combat it seemed a waste to send them into the jungle. but i could be wrong.

I have been hitting luganville port and airfield hard, untill the b17's decided to upgrade
to B24J's .. will be back soon. also need to use the b25's again at rennel but the place is a
fighter only habitat (bar search planes) as if i reduce the fighters joe can get to the
convoys (at a price). SW PAC HQ is heading to rennel and is prepped for lunga so will
have 2 HQ's when i attack it. He also tried to rescue a heavily damaged DD from tulagi
but some corsairs on anti barge duty caught her (hasn't sunk yet).

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 10/22/43

this was a turn dominated by air combat. I'll show you the main events in sumatra and china
and post a losses summary at the end.

Japan decided to sweep the chinese over Wuuchow and caught a few P40's before the chinese fought
back and did remarkably well overall, the only down side is that im not out of P40N's and the
chinese pilot pool is down to 11 men (turned replacements off).

day 1

Day Air attack on Wuchow , at 42,39

Japanese aircraft
A6M3 Zero x 26
A6M3a Zero x 16
Ki-46-III Dinah x 1

Allied aircraft
P-40N Warhawk x 61

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M3 Zero: 23 destroyed
A6M3a Zero: 9 destroyed
Ki-46-III Dinah: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-40N Warhawk: 15 destroyed, 8 damaged

Day 2 . the rookies from the japanese had been weeded out.

Day Air attack on Wuchow , at 42,39

A6M3a Zero x 13
Ki-46-III Dinah x 1

Allied aircraft

A6M3 Zero: 12 destroyed
A6M3a Zero: 6 destroyed, 1 damaged
Ki-46-III Dinah: 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-40N Warhawk: 13 destroyed, 6 damaged

Still its a reasnable performance overall.

then japan sent a massively escorted attack on bankha (piccie).

Day Air attack on Bankha , at 20,47

Japanese aircraft
A6M5 Zeke x 14
A6M3a Zero x 50
G4M1 Betty x 49
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 35
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 33
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 3

Allied aircraft
P-38J Lightning x 37

Japanese aircraft losses

Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
P-38J Lightning: 9 destroyed, 7 damaged

Allied ground losses:
13 casualties reported

Runway hits 6

62-9 .. live with that ! .. i had sent down the best a/c i could find here with a unit that
had already scored over 100 kills (way up now).. only 12 flyable for the following day and
room for 16 more a/c was made for spits to fly in and help (max 100 a/c here).

day 2 .. they came back ..

Day Air attack on Bankha , at 20,47

Japanese aircraft
A6M5 Zeke x 9
A6M3a Zero x 38
G4M1 Betty x 35
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 14
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 16
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 31

Allied aircraft
P-38J Lightning x 24

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5 Zeke: 1 destroyed
A6M3a Zero: 13 destroyed
G4M1 Betty: 2 destroyed, 2 damaged
Ki-43-IIa Oscar: 4 destroyed
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 3 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 16 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-38J Lightning: 5 destroyed, 7 damaged

Allied ground losses:
24 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Airbase hits 2
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 4

39-5 ! .. wonder if he'll come back tomorrow ? . the low number of runway hits belies the
fact that the field is at 40% service and runway damage. Emergency flying in an infantry
brigade as this might be a prelude for a counterattack.

RAF from kuala did a sweep over malaya and cought some 2nd rate oscars by suprise :-

Day Air attack on Alor Star , at 24,44

Japanese aircraft
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 25

Day Air attack on Alor Star , at 24,44

Japanese aircraft
Ki-43-IIa Oscar x 21
Ki-61 KAIc Tony x 7

Allied aircraft
Thunderbolt II x 12
P-40N Warhawk x 63

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-43-IIa Oscar: 14 destroyed
Ki-61 KAIc Tony: 5 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-40N Warhawk: 1 destroyed

again p40's losses bad but a lot better than japans oscars [;)]

and Just FYI .. there seems to be an endless supply of ground targets at buna aierfield :-

Day Air attack on Buna , at 55,90

Japanese aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft
Hudson I x 11
Beaufort V-IX x 14
P-40E Warhawk x 27
A-20G Havoc x 15

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-44-IIb Tojo: 18 destroyed huh [&:]

Japanese ground losses:
89 casualties reported

Airbase hits 4
Airbase supply hits 6
Runway hits 67

killed 11 more on day 2 as well .. ?? this has me stumped, ive told joe in case he's left on
replacemnts in eroor .. but he didnt comment . maybe its some cunning plan [;)]

Finished off the last of the AP's at wake island too. also 1st sub attack here missed ! with about 10 subs prowling in and around wake this is the 1st attack , must be some cowardly C/O's which i
cant change as chirchill hates me
[:D]

Day Air attack on TF, near Wake Island at 82,63

Allied aircraft
PB4Y Liberator x 10

No Allied losses

Actually lost 50 brand new P38J's (all bar 2 pilots are ok though). Having to pull out of
Bankha for now .. LR CAP set from kuala for tomorrow. Medan is also a bit vulnerable but
its in range of the torpedo bombers at kuala. humm maybe a night torpedo bomber unit and
a sub at meadan to trigger the detection ? might work [:'(]

Actually was a relatively busy day overall but nowt out of the usual apart from (more %$^$$$^
expletives), MAVIS RECON SPOTTED OVER MIDWAY ! .. oh C%$%. thats the wake op spotted for sure.
Just in case Joe tries to do a massed CV Raid on the port i have set sail with all the CV's
just in case as the consequences of them being trapped does not bear thinking about.

I am still planning on going ahead with the thing, as i feel i do have enough oomph with the
2 extra divs the new ships to take the place rapidly (hopefully) as has already been said a quick
take over and LBA flown in rapidly would help enormously.

anyway .. i'll be doing summaries of ship losses over the next few turns .

Today CV's and BB's .. Japan is definately winning this one.

Looks like i need a bit more that the aussie infantry division, while i could wait for
the tanks and artillery struggling over the owen stanly mountains OR we invade it from the
sea [;)]. american cavalry division thats 100% prepped for the place is loaded and coming in from
gili gili under fighter cover from the new level 2-3 airfields and also PM just in case weather
closes down one base several units are covering the convoy and also the Bombardment group
coming back for another run. 2BB's added into the AP invasion convoy to soak up any shells.
No Coastal defence guns are sited at buna but the landing ships will come under fire from
regular artillery when landing.

The painfully slow attack on the solomons is about to get more interesting as we invade both
tulagi and russel island over the next 7-14 days. Lightnings have been downing long range
japanese float planese flying in supply and heavy 4E bomber raids continually dent the
japanese supply dumps but i need a field for medium bombers to operate on a ground attack
duty.

almost ready to go for wake now we have 2 more divs avaialable. My brother is a bit concerned
that it'll be a slaughter if KB comes and the us fleet carriers get rained out, long story short
he's convinced me to slightly alter the plans.

1) load up and sail toward it as planned
2) await the arrival of KB
3) fight it out before landing and only attack once the japanese have been sent packing.

make sense ?

Hi Rob

Yeah, just keep the main transports back i.e . out of his suspected CV air range.

Be interesting to see what Joe does. He may not come at all.....

Good Air to air combats. I`ve always found the P47`s are great. Just wished the range is better.

PS I know I spelt Augustus wrongly !

LOL never looked at the spelling till now [:D].

According to Joe the 'massive losses' against the P47's were 'all part of a preperation ?" .. humm reinvading sumatra ? he's busy with a history exam right now so hopefully get a turn tomorrow.

Re Wake .. dont want to leave a pile of loaded transports not covered by either the CV's or LBA, so not going to move the invasion fleet half way and park it , as japan has some very long range search a/c and if joe is wiley he does an end around and sinks the unprotected transports while my carriers whistle dixie and stare out at the nice peacful view 300 miles from where the are needed [;)]

So they will be coming with me and having the CV's follow the transports should hopefully make sure they dont react to the enemy.
fingers crossed.

The last 2 days of october 43 were not good ones for the US in the coral seas around tassaforonga.
Multiple air attacks seriously damaged a tanker (will prolly sink) and several AK's unloading
supply and fuel at the small base there.

also the mighty corsair was humbled badly .. even a papier-mache japanese bomber is the equal of the
uber plane in air to air combat, actually overmatched it in one engagement [;)]

Day Air attack on TF, near Tassafaronga at 66,97

F4U-1 Corsair: 1 damaged

hehe , 3 allied fighters damaged by unescorted japanese bombers ! .. JFB's will not be happy [;)]

the defenders had already encountered this however :-

looks like well escorted bombers can get through weak cap (which is frankly nice to see game wise).

However day 2 rained out munda (the main source of the japanese attacks) and the so-called elite
naval flyboys are either blind, stupid or american flying training standards have slipped badly.

Looks like CV Escort to me , so joe did move KB up to protect Wake. At least i assume so from this
contact, However no sighting of carrier planes or even search planes (ship based ones) anywhere
around here so i'm guessing he's in stealth mode. lets hope one of my many subs might get a crack
at a flattop soonish [:D]

The invasion of buna didn't happen ? transports for some reason never left port , odd but we will
go again next turn. bombers are killing off 500+ men a day from the defending division so we
should take it down after the invasion cavaly division arrives.

Over in burma we open up yet another heavy bomber campaign against raheng airfield (and supplies)
for 2 rasons , first slow the darn recon planes based here and stop him from basing forward fighter
units which could jump my small ground attack missions hitting forward japanese troops
(mostly beaufighter FB's doing th mud moving , and quite well too). Actually there are 3
reasons as i'm hopeing that hitting supply here will slow the flow of supply forward to where
we have a small standoff in the jungle , thereby allowing me to overwhelm the forward troops
and take raheng under seige.

Thats about it for the action today ..

Tomorrow i.e 1st November we will start loading up for the wake invasion and re-order the CV
and escort groups for maximim air capacity (max 150 a/c iirc in 1943 before nasty things happen
to raid co-ordination and cap levels).

also If munda gets hits good (no BB's too slow) then time to take russel island troops prepped
for tulagi still back in luganville btw.

P{iccie of where i spotted the DD (CV's) .. no allied recon a/c can fly this far out.

Image

PS forgot to add Winston got on the phone and has ordered back ANOTHER CV ! that'll be 3 months
of no political points of i ignore this one .. and i truly hate not being able to choose
commanders so he might get it back if i'm feeling generous after the sumatra invasion.

Hi Rob. Sorry not a turn.

Those Corsairs are a bit feeble are`nt they. Is their exp. a bit low? Whats the commander like? I notice from an earlier report that you like tinkering with commanders.Always good to get rid of the rubbish and put good ones where they are most needed. Can`t do any harm...but I wonder if it really makes a "big" difference.
Anyway nice to see that CAP doesn`t just passively seal out bomber attacks.

Re: WAKE

Yup- looks like a bit of a CV group. Probably refueled at Marcus Is. Naturally the subs didn`t notice anything. On reflection I think your plan of assault is correct. Wish other readers would comment as their views are usually well considered. Anyway it`s got to be all or nothing in the attack.
Any chance of a screenie of active CV`s CVL and CVE`s.-can`t remember what was available then.

The screenshot of CC/CL losses was interesting. 1e very little.

Looking forward to the Buna op. It`s now late `43 and things should really be moving on now.

Good luck

Definately KB or at least part of it! (I would say that is 90% certain)

Now we will see whether you CV's are able to handle them! [:-]

Just make sure that you land sizeable army quickly into Wake Island. You cannot support it for long with your navy. Make sure also that your CV's wohn't be splitted completely. (You have lost enough fleet carriers already)

Oh.. and definately good luck! When someone mentiones Wake Island I tend to get a bad feeling! [:D] ...but definately a green light for this operation since it will only get harder to grap the place later.

Thanks aztez .. reply is appreciated

yeah wake must hold a few nightmares for you [;)].. i was originally confident untill japan dumped a reinforced brigade here . i am assuming level 9 forts as well ( hence the 4 division assault + bits). CV's will be interesting . I am not sure i can decicevely defeat japan CV vs CV as i have lost the brit carriers and 4 US CVL's and some CVE's so i dont think i have uber cap .. but I do have a pool of F6F's which is ok for now , albeit i have run out of P40N's (FYI).

next few turns should be interesting .. thanks for replying

bye

bombers (8K) to mid level 15k and the P38's at 25K.. oh well he must have some darn good
pilots is all i can say.

Landings at buna went fine today wit the AP's unloading unmolested, however the units landed
are disrupted to b&^^&^y for some odd reason and severely disabled too ?

OK Wake island invasion is finally going off aftre some wierd loading bugs/oddities whereby only
one ship in a tf would actually load anything .. seems to have been sorted out by judicious
disbanding and transferring in/out ships .. wierd.. heres whats going along for the ride .
I've sent them all 2 hexes SW just to check everything loaded ok.. this is a bit of a nailbiter/.
I was planning to hit south sumatra at the same time to avoid the jap CV's but due to some jerk
at karachi the US tanks havnt loaded and i didnt notice for ages .. sigh.. send the ships back
again to pick them up. Have to double/triple check all loading from now on as it's definately
gone wierd.. this op will be delayed 2-3 weeks now .. bah humbug.

RE: 43 - The Mouse bites back. Rob vs Littlejoe 43+

Post by Rob Brennan UK »

There is definately something odd with loading troops going on in this game. the brigades
due to arrive at buna are terribly fragmented and only about 20% arrived [&:], this is with
ample transport but i'm going ahead with an attack anyway just too see if the few men who did
arrive makes the aussies a good 3-1 (see next turn). similarly fair numbers of the 40th inf
div are still at midway but it';s not too bad here as i was as careful as possible that no empty
transports went along for the jaunt .. PS i forgot/missed the amphib HQ on the AGC for the wake op
she's loaded up and has a DE escort and is racing to catch up (will easily do so).

Regarding Wake i had a nasty thought. IF i stand off wth the CV's to avoid the nasty coastal
penalty on CV flight operations ,Japan could if being clever stand 5 hexes off wake and then
all his bombers will hit the transports because the CV's are out of range .. well to counter this
the CV's will cover the landings from the West of Wake island not the East. also I ditched the
CV Battle idea 1st then land as micromanaging all these bloody task forces is bad enough without
leaving them at sea and i guarantee some would wander off or return to midway if left unescorted
and i don't trust the AI much after these loading fiascos going off everywhere. I think i'll re-name
several bases as Fragment holes (townsville/karachi/midway/luganville/noumea ) GAH trying to
get fragments together is bad enough when replacemnets turn up randomly (not at the theatre HQ)
most of the time even with amply supply etc. most frustrting. I dread to think what organising
in 44/45 will be like ! nightmare.

Anyhoo, Here is the latest combat report blow by blow as it's time (if you are interested ) to
see whats happening behind the scenes (so to speak). so copy and paste the CR and annotated
as needed , I don't plan on doing it this way regularly (unless you want it ) as most combat
is generally irrelevant to main operations . Speaking of which i forgot an HQ for the sumatra
invasion , Just as well it was delayed because of the screw up at karachi and i have poached
the Burma corps HQ from well Burma (DUH). and will load up next turn from rangoon and sail to
colombo (if it moves fast enough).

Japan started some training in china and i am in no position (yet) to try and jump them.
As most chinese bases do not have aviation support , dakotas in chungking have been
rectifying the situation but flying in , then out some smaller Base forces as walking
in china takes flipping ages. I could just send in the chinese fighters BUT they are
well below strength and P40N pool is completely empty, and china is not high on the
priority list for new airframes (AVG in sumatra gets them 1st). I'll send in some RAF
and USAF P40E's and maybe some lightnings to try and bounce these training flights
in a few days.

When my armour arrives in a few days we should be able to kick the japs back to Raheng.
Which is completely immune to this flanking force , and sending more men down this trail
isn't worth it. BUT it has had the desired effect of forcing japan to defend here
and does weaken him elsewhere in theatre.(a bit )

Whenever i try a deliberate attack i lose badly. So just shelling them into oblivion.
Also i need to get the brigades out of here as they are battered and at 50% , Air
transports are bringing in the 15th Canadian brigade to take over the defences(100% prepped btw)
, then i'll fly out the indians and sail them back to colombo to reorganise.

Ground combat at Lunga

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 29058 troops, 291 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 741

Defending force 32398 troops, 203 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 464

I need more men here and as Aztez pointed out an HQ , i do have both and am currnently
collecting them in rennel for transfer to tassafornga and a 60 mile overland trek to
lunga ( landing directly i think is suicide). iirc Americal div is almost there and 2 RCT
and the AUstralian 1st HQ are 100% prepped and will hopefully tip the scales. Also have
some tanks (australian) coming along too 40 miles down the trail i think. however the
2nd tank unit will not budge from tassaforonga .. i get error messages saying cant move
from one ZOC to another, its very odd.

Well the Wake attack went almost smoothly following the slowest Task force. One TF went back to
midway (the supplies worryingly enough) but will race to come back and catch up. Basically
I'm moving the invasion 4-5 hexes every 2 days and most follow orders seem to be being
followed properly. Lets hope this actually works , i'm starting to think i've brough
a sledgehammer to break a walnut .. just in case another american div is in midway if i need
reinforcements. My main worry is obviously the japanese CV's and have no idea how a large
CV battle would work out. I think we would win because of the F6F's vs Zeros is definately
in my favour. all depends on his cap % i think. Mine is between 60-80 % on varying heights.
Basically i can afford to lose the bombers but not the CV's [;)]

Back in karachi the tanks and the US RCT actually loaded up properly for the trip to
colombo. I'm planning on a smaller invasion of (whatever it is called) the bottom most
base on sumatra. then once taken throw in a ton of stuff prepped for palembang and
aviation suppport and engineers. Depends if the brit CV's and americal CVL's
can hold off LBA (assuming KB contests wake island). In my experience, landing at a base
your not prepped for is a disaster for the troops involved.

Ok thats today over and if joe can pry himself away from final fantasy 12 hopefully get
a turn tomorrow/tonight .. bye bye

In the words of victor Meldrew " I Dont Believe this !".

The supply for wake island invasion didnt leave midway (again!). had follw TF ordered,
wasn't loading anything (or unloading ) just sat there ! .. gave it a direct movement order
this time round (If that doesn't work I'll throw the computer out the window [:@]

Ok rant over, unless i find anything else on map (doing the turn now).

Well was a good turn for the silent service again.

On both occasions japanese pilots ran away quite quickly . but not as fast as the oscars
flying over bangkok when some british Thunderbolt 2's arrived at 25k feet .. actually they
ran so fast only 3 were brought down over 2 days. That said one brave oscar pilot managed
to down a P47 ? .. shouldn't be allowed [;)]

Oh well now down to todays best result ever .. why was i worried about buna ? the Assault
Values (AV) suggested a 2-1 in the allies favour .. BUT then this happened .:-

Ground combat at Buna

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 15677 troops, 152 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 422

Defending force 4815 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 104

[:D][:D] Well i never .. should have attacked last week .. wonder if lunga is in a similar state ?
although i'd bet she has level 9 forts due to the engineers there. should i do a test attack with
one unit ? or all of them ? or wait till i can pound the troops properly ? any suggestions ?

Let's hope you get the Wake "carnival" on the road the more time it takes the more time he has to prepare his navy and transports TF's for the oncoming battle!

Thanks for the reply chaps.

augustus .. i will be attacking lunga with the 4th aussie tank unit (40 odd tanks) just to
get a measure of the defenses without hurting my divisions. bit rough on the aussies though[;)]

Aztez , the Wake carnival is now in the order of 21 ! taskforces and has finally all met up
We have :-

Amphibious HQ
Supply
Troops
support
engineers
Base unit(s) for when it falls.
plenty of planes in PH for transfer.

And best of all AFAIK im completely undetected .. no recon over midway so he;s not aware
my CV's left port. and absolutely no planes flying from wake (must be a mess). aiming for
one hex east of wake for next turns move, then we invade ! [:D] He's bound to spot us next turn
but my flood od subs report nothing remotely close to wake (upto 8-10 hexes out) the place
looks like a submarine car park [;)]

Interesting turn again. plenty of action .

submarine summary :-

SS Sunfish sinks 2 AK's off amboina
SS Redfin again takes a bite form a convoy off NE Bornea 1 AK sunk
SS Growler sinks a patrol boat off the vietnam coast after chinese bombers harass them
SS KXII sinks an AK at kendari with 88mm gunfire and 2 torps
SS Mingo unwisely attacks an japanese ASW group off iwo jima and will in all liklyhood sink
SS 31 gets jumped by ASW PG's off the kurile islands and will have to go back to repair the dent.
SS Shark hits and damages an AK in the china sea with 1 torp hit.
SS Grenadier misses a lone troops ship at Truk [:@] (idiot).

We will be conducting our own shock attack tomorrow and see if we cant beat them back to
raheng permanently. every available bomber and fighterbomber is on ground attack duty for
the next 2 days, fingers crossed.

Speaking of burma Joe has withdrawn a sizeable portion of the japanese front line troops to keep
AV on parity with the allies, where they have gone i do not know , tad woorying for the future
invasion at Tavoy in the distant future ( need HUGE numbers of ships for this op).

Also the Burma HQ never left the front line in burma ?? stopped the allied shelling as that 'might'
be the cause ( gotta hate the ground system in this game ).

here is the ambush over bankha :-

[:D] He's bound to spot us next turn
but my flood of subs report nothing remotely close to wake (upto 8-10 hexes out) the place
looks like a submarine car park [;)]

SS Grenadier misses a lone troop ship at Truk [:@] (idiot).

Moulemein and Tavoy are hit hard (esp moulmein post and airfield ) for the RAF heavies and
dive bombers, along with USAAF B25's.

Whoops ! cocked up that edit and spell check [X(]

PS quick late update , just got this from Joe :-
Wheres USN dissapeared to, expected Wake to be flattened by now, doubt
my H8K's scared you off now you got Hellcats on the decks.

ROFL .. i am one hex out from wake island and he still hasn't spotted me .. sending in all bar one
division and the eng/BF units etc next turn CV's cover the west of wake , CVL's cover the
replenishment and non-landing division , while the CVE's cover the landing force direct.
No bombardment from the BB's , needed to soak up CD fire . and the 4E from midway have worked over the
port several times over .. fingers crossed .. also good news in burma .. long live the chinese and
british tank tactics [;)]

more tomorow .. way too late ..
