Governor's Request - I give

Post by Maurym »

OK...the Governor of Ohio has requested 8 brigades be stationed in his state. I move 10 from Illinois over to Ohio. The Governor's request doesn't change... he still wants 8 brigades. Am I missing something? Do I have to garrison these brigades? Do they have to stay there indefinately?

he may want them for a while, you should also of gotten a message saying thank you for the troops

some times it is only for a turn or two, others it can last a while

Troops in Garrison also count for this total

They have to stay until he decides he doesnt want them anymore, or you can just ignore his request.

I often ignore those requests but even if you can accede to them, it still takes a while before you get the message that he doesn't require those troops anymore.

Thanks...I didn't get any message that stated I satisfied his request so I wasn't sure anything was happening. I'll wait it out and see if I get the Thank You message.

One more thing...if you already have say 20 brigades in a state and you get a request for 8 do the 20 already cover that or do I need to add 8 more. Based on Hard Sarge's note I'd guess I'd already be covered.

I had a governor in New Jersey I think who wanted a University but I ignored him cause there wasn't any research going on there and I couldn't afford the $250 for it. Eventually he became rebellious. Not sure how that hurt me but it didn't do me any good.

Drex, if the governor was rebellious he was more likely to hurt you by negatively affecting resource production, research or diplomacy -- this would have been evident by checking the governors screen. Perhaps he did nothing.

Maurym, it's possible that you're not getting the message if on the preferences screen you have governor-related messages toggled off. I'm not positive about this, but it's worth checking that screen to see what you've got it set to.

So if they get to the rebellious state, can a state actually join the succession? this would be one of those "What-ifs".

No, it just means that they impede the war effort. That would be a very difficult "what-if" to program. And what would happen if, say, the governor of Michigan became rebellious -- could he join the Confederacy with those other states standing in the way?

True, but when the CSA emancipates, it doesn't prevent a single state from standing down from the war which is basically the the same thing: succession in reverse.
