Staff Costs of Units? Arty Platoon to Brigade cost?

Hi,
I'm digesting the manual and I can't work out why one particular staff cost situation is.

The staff cost chart on pg 142 shows a Arty Platoon cost of attaching to its Brigade HQ and Division HQ as 0.25.

Why is this not 0.50? According to the rules:
1) Its indirectly subordinate to both units, causing 2 points.
2) Its more than two levels smaller so this halves to 1 point.
3) Its not line so its halved again to 0.5 points.

I know its late (for me in the UK) and I'm probably missing something obvious, but the other costs make sense to me.

Can somebody clear this up for me please?

Sorry, I guess this post slipped under the radar. The term 'levels' may be a bit confusing:

It is a platoon sized unit, so it is 2 levels below the Bn HQ so it is halved again. (Bn -> Coy -> Plt= 2 levels different between Bn and Plt)

One strange thing that I cant rectify in my head is the (blue) staff cost for the independant Bn HQ attaching to another Bn HQ that is neither directly or indirectly subordinate to that HQ or it's superior's HQ. Shouldn't it's cost then be 6?

EDIT: Oh wait, staff cost is capped at 4. nevermind.[8|]

When I proofread the manual many moons ago I had to use pen, paper and a calculator and read everything 5 times to make sense of it all. But I did find a calculating mistake IIRC which made it all worthwhile [;)]

Hi, thanks for the reply. I accounted for it in my calculations (previous post), and i still get 0.5.

Any chance you could break the calulations down like I did above? I don't like it when i'm missing something

I was taking directly subordinate to mean the level below, rather than the entire chain of subordination

Yes it can be confusing. I toyed for a while in simplifying the formula but in the end resisted on the basis that the computer can handle these calc really well and you can review the command load in the Unit data views on the side bar.
