* Saipan (21 enemy units reported)
* Saigon (30 enemy units reported)
* Iwo Jima (+20 enemy units reported)
* Bonins (+100 000 men reported)

That looks tough if its true .. as to your question about the intel and sigint accuracy, i only tend to use/believe sigint messages
about units on ships and actual unit names i.e 4th division prepping for xxxx or 4th div based at xxxxx, as for the rest it seems completely
useless i.e radio signals from tokyo [&:]seem like a 1/2 baked
system that could have been great but feels like it wasn't
finished properly [;)]

True. There is a lot of rubbish reports on allied Signit.

However I'am somewhat concerned about the report regarding Saipan. It did say that 251 000 men at Saipan.

The problem is that I really need to conquer that base in order to have an airbase which I can fly missions againts Iwo Jima/Bonins with fighter escorts. I know I could overwhelm the base with LBA bombers BUT I rather have them escorted by some quality P51 Mustangs! [;)]

It is very much diffrent to play in later years and as said I think FDR has played wisely by fighting me on all fronts and not withdrawing his forces. (A hint to any Japanese players who are decieding strategy for later part of 1944 and further)

As for the rest of those strongly garrisoned bases... well.... [:-][:-][:-][&:] ...we will find out how things turn out in due time.

250000 men is a hell of a LOT .. can you switch axis of approach and take the kurile islands instead ? could use them for P51 sweeps before the bombers fly from the rear bases.

Rob: Yeah. That is a massive amount of troops and I think that amount is not too far off. I have thought about Kurile's but unfortunately there really is no chance of shifting the offensive approach. [:(] ..my forces are fully committed in the South and Central Pacific.

Allied CV TF's have left Marianas. Each of these TF have their own objective.

FDR stated that the operation Sea Hurricane was designed to cause "political harm".

I was suprised to say at least when KB turned out near Vancouver!!! [X(][X(][X(]

Doesn't Saipan have static CD units? These usually show up as 90-100k men. The "men based at xxx base" message is apparently based at load cost, and static CD guns have a BIG load cost. I've had 95k+ men reported from Saipan with nothing but the base force there.

It's said that if Allied SigInt says there is 251 000 men in Saipan, there is...[8D] Somone of the Mods/programmers/testers said that those numbers are accurate. Of course it doesn't mean 251k *combat troops*....

String: Now that you mention I think there is a CD unit there. (Never actually thought about this) ..but as said 21 units will spell troubles... and I really need to capture this base so it is about to get ugly indeed.

Sardaukar: Nice to see you. Hope everything is ok! If the developers said that the numbers on allied signit is correct than there is 251 000 men there than! [8|] ...and as said above this is a must to conquer base for me!

Discussion about how accurate the Intel is is here:

tm.asp?m=1377634&mpage=1&key=sigint&#1378177

Feinder:

"If it's from Sigint, it's pretty darn accuarate (that number needs no give or take).

If it's from Patrol/Bomber recon, double it.

If it's from Recons, is probably under by about 50%."

and

"Wow. That's more than the "just double". It might be a bit of issues with scale. As in, if you get a report of 1200 guys there, it's more likely to be 2x that. But when you start getting huge stacks (like 100k), the algorithms, can't handle it (just guessing, it would be a similar vein that it never reports more than 10 ships in TF, even if there are 100).

I'll have to take the larger troop concentrations with a grain of salt then. But in my experience, Sigint has always been correct (and yes, Bodhi's Util is your friend : with an enemy force that large, you had better start positively IDing those units!)."

Well, FDR seems to be moving towards North Pacific bases with the KB. I have actually dispatched 8 CVE's from Pearl Harbour towards this enemy fleet. (Hopefully I can ambush his naval fleet. He cannot not have KB well supplied and his CV's have been hit by LBA bombers)

True. Those ships are now homes for the local fish population! [:D]

I'am actually moving a lot of troops into Tinian with transport TF. I have around 100 000 fresh troops on their way. Also I will start loading troops into ships at Marshalls and Tinian soon in order build up one hell of an invasion armada! [:-]

There are good number of B29's at Tarawa. (I doubt FDR is aware of this since these aircraft have not yet particapated in anykind of an offense) These planes will step up the pressure soon. Add these to the 4E bombers squadrons than it ain't about the support we are lacking.

Also I will keep allied BB's in the area. There is 2 BB TF's currently at India. 1 US BB TF at Pearl Harbour. Rest of them are at Marianas.

...So we shall soon see how well he can hold the base even with 250 000 in there. [8|]
