So um......is it timing out? Does it ever start d/l'ing? What's the symptom you're experiencing. I downloaded it okie dokie, but then I'm on broadband cable and it's d/l'ed quickly that way.

The download doesn't start and then ... time out.

I was able to d/l and install without problems. However, when I went to start a new game, I switched to WWII Mediteranean then immediately got "There are not enough system resources to continue the game. Your scenario will be saved if possible. Error #8 (Bitter Victory Sicily 1043)." That message displayed before the scenario list which leads me to believe that there may be a problem with that scenario. It's a fatal error.

This type of error comes as quite a surprise since I have tons of memory and I run some very graphic intensive games without any problems.

I didn't have any problems when trying the same thing. That scenario is the first in the list for the folder and will be the one highlighted, by default when the scenario list comes up. Try rebooting your system, and see if the problem reoccurs.

OK...now this is totally weird. I rebooted, tried againt. Load then change directory. I started down the list...classic...hypothetical...modern-asia...etc and all the scenario listings came up without any problems. I went through all of them, skipping Med. Then, when I tried WWII Med...same error.

I know the drill from here. Uninstall...reinstall...apply patches. The question....is the latest patch cumulative, or do I need to install the earlier patch first?

This obviously doesn't belong in this thread anymore...sorry.

All TOAW III patches are cumulative. Maybe it's just a corrupted file for that scenario. Good luck and let us know if the reinstall solves the problem.

Of course, you could always move the BMP file and .SCE file to a subdirectory, see if that fixes it, and ask someone to send you a new zopy [8D]

Keep trying. The only thing I can think right now, is that the FTP server may be loadded down. Someone on Gamesquad just posted that he's downloading at 30k/sec.

Bummer - I was just about ready to buy TOAW III this weekend, but after following these download issues all day, I don't want to chance it if I'm going to end up paying for something this weekend that I can't actually download and use this weekend. :(

I'm pretty sure that downloading TOAW III comes from Digital River's site. That's a different site from the FTP site that the patches are on.

How hard would it be to move THIS particular patch to the better site?

I'll bet it's impossible, that ones owned by a different company. I'll talk to the folks involved Monday and see if this is a problem with the FTP site or a bandwidth issue or something else, and what we can do about it next time.

Weird. I just filed up Filezilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/) and it can download the files just fine.

Try downloading it and see.

The command-line FTP command works fine too.

I wonder if Microsoft released another patch to 'fix' something with IE on us again?
