RHS versions 5.xxx & 6.xxx

Post by Buck Beach »

I have tried looking for a read me or other information on the akdreamer site and bounced around here looking for the needle in the haystack. So, once again will someone please give me a brief description of the difference between the two? It may finally be time to try and play this game.

Basically level 5 uses the same map system as Andrews extended map. Level 6 uses a similar map system but adds a rudimentary shipping track on its map edge.

Thank you. I did read the RHS Handbook, but obviously not close enough.

Level 5 RHS is compatable with CHS and the Andrew Brown Extended Map system. So compatable you can use the Andrew Brown Extended Map and/or pwhex file with Level 5 RHS data files. [You also can use Level 5 RHS maps and pwhex with CHS. And you can even mix and match the maps and pwhex files as you please.] Level 5 entry points and British exit points are Aden and Melbourne.

Level 6 RHS is the same as Level 5 except there is a primitive map edge shipping track permitting ships to leave the map on the Western Map edge - sail around Africa to the "South Atlantic Meeting Point" (Tristan da Cunha Island) - and then to Panama or the other Eastern Map edge entry points. Tristan da Cunha is a point that unit appear as reinforcements, also supplies. Level 6 entry points and British exit points are Aden and South Atlantic Entry Point.

Both systems have the Panama Canal open and Colon is an entry point. Both systems permit th Panama Canal to be closed - and you install an alternate pwhex file for as long as it is closed - restoring the normal one when / if it opens again. We say the canal is closed if Panama City is 90% damaged or more. It is repaired if port damage drops below 10%.

RHSCVO (Carrier Oriented) = Scenario 15 or CHS - with extra RHS units/capabilities. [Scenario 50 or 60]

RHSRAO = RHSCVO with the Soviets Active (but not bellegerent) [Scenario 51 or 61]

RHSBBO (Battleship Oriented) = the war with historical plans for shipbuilding on both sides implemented instead of radically changed as really happened [The Soviets are Active] [Scenario 52 or 62]

RHSRPO = RHSBBO with the Soviets Passive [Scenario 53 or 63]

RHSPPO (Political Point Option) = RHSBBO with extra political points for both sides - but most units appearing at "home" - so you must pay PP to send them even where they really went - gives players control of where things are sent in situations different from history

RHSEOS [Empire of the Sun] = Japan Enhansed Scenario - ALMOST = RHSCVO for Allies - but Japan has better planning and inter service cooperation. See the Designer's Notes for the RHS Tag Team, the RHSEOS Second Edition Essay OR the RHS Manual for details.
