Retreat Issues

Post by Q-Ball »

I am IJA locked in a massive land battle at Changsha, and can't seem to pull ANY units out of there. There are retreat paths available to Wuhan and Nanchang, up either Railroad. When commands are issued to march, there seem to be no issues, but the next turn, they haven't gone anywhere, and the order is cancelled.

This happens when there are no combats on either side that turn. Even if my opponent did attack, that woulnd't make a difference, correct?

Any suggestions out there, or similar problems? Seems like I either have to pour troops in to win, or I'm completely stuck.

Hi Q-ball
You have to use one of your bases as destination if you want to get troops out of combat. After they are out you can stop them and give another direction.

You need to set the destination to another BASE location, otherwise every time the enemy bombards it resets your unit to zero progress.

Notice that this can sometimes cause severe complications... if the game determines (as it sometimes does) that you start marching to the (say) NW when the base you want to go to is S, then you can be (as they say) totally screwed. USUALLY this doesn't happen, though.

If you just specify you want to march to the hex next door (and there isn't a base there), you'll probably never move.

Also, of course, you can't order attacks by your troops, or they reset to defensive stance (and you lose all progress).

Good luck!!
