Suggestion to Improve the Japanese AI Purchases?

Post by KG Erwin »

This is for Alby & Flashfyre: in generated battles , I see the Japanese buying a few tanks.

In the long campaign, at least in the beginning battles, they buy no armor at all. This seems just a little odd, as they did have a few light tanks in the latter stages of the Guadalcanal campaign. It may be a moot point, as they were quickly destroyed in facing the American 37mm ATGs.

I stopped buying the 37s, as they are not needed.

Got any suggestions?

BTW, don't tell me to move to another theater. The Gunny "went Asiatic" a long time ago. [;)]

Without the Japanese AI Picklists, I have no way of knowing which formations are being bought by the AI for the different years and mission types.

Riun, I deleted ALL of the scenarios to free up disk space. I only kept the campaigns and the Megas. If one of you wants to send me this, I'll give it a try.

Ok, understood. Only Mike has these, and I'm not gonna bug him with requests of this nature.

Thanks for responding.

To be honest, I'm suprised Gunny hasn't figured it out. For that matter, I'm suprised he hasn't got them memorized! [:D]

Alby,

Since the computer bases its purchases on how many points the human player has, then figuring out the AI "picklist" can be tricky from battle to battle.  The computer will pick differently if it has 3000 points to spend than if it has 5000.

Also, the type of battle affects the computer purchases as well.  5000 points of assault battle purchases will be different than 5000 points of defend battle purchases.

VH...
How well I know....[;)]
you can figure out the formations the AI uses, but which ones it uses first is near impossible.

The actual "picklists" are embedded in the code, and require significant work on the part of a programmer to "dig out" and compile. We were lucky to have Mike extract the USMC ones a while back...
