Cobra,
Re using the v6 maps for RHS.
Would it be possible for you to explain what the icons and letters represent on the maps or point to the relevent forum thread that has the explanations. I have worked out the icons for friendly minefields but am uncertain what such as the yellow "HCF" means or the blue letters at certain bases. There does not appear to be an explanation on the maps themselves.
Many Thanks
DavidR

RE: Cobra Aus RapidShare link page
There is - or used to be - a legend in some unused part of the map - try the Arctic.
HCF and LCF are RHS conventions for connections between bodies of land separated by water. This has always been part of WITP - but no one admitted it. You can go from Canton to Hong Kong - but no one tells you it requires a ferry - even in stock. You can go from Shikoku to Honshu - but no one tells you it requires a ferry - in CHS. Well - there are many other places like that in RHS - and we tell you when and where - and how much:
HCF = High Capacity Ferry = Road connection
LCF = Low Capacity Ferry = Trail connection
[FYI there is NO ferry between Kyushu and Honshu because they are connected by a RR tunnel! For that reason the rail line is shown between them. Note it appears as a road in RHS. This is because CHS and RHS designate a secondary rail line = a road.]
Most of the other Icons in RHS are economic - and wholly logical. For example, R might stand for Resources.
The rarest of these is F - only found at Kodiak Alaska - and it means Fish. You get an economic symbol ONLY if the number of resource centers = or greater than 300.
The rarest wierd (non economic non communications) icon is on the Mekong River near the Eastern frontier of Cambodia: WF = Waterfall. It explains why the river is navigable above and below a certain hex side - but not between these sections.

Sid,
Thank you.
The maps I am using do not have any legends . I have scrolled from corner to corner and there are no explanations that I can find.

You are correct - I don't see any either. Working on Levels 6 and 7 - messing with map edges - probably took them out.
I think they are still on Level 5.
Whatever you don't understand - ask. It is basically alphabetical. I think T stands for Tanks - meaning fuel storage tanks - at unusual places like Oahu and Panama where it exists in vast quantities. The big cases are R for Resources and O for Oil of course. I think map edge supply sources may have S for Supply. Only the very big sources get these symbols - to help players understand what is worth fighting over. RHS is economically oriented. We see the Pacific war as essentially economic at its roots. The causus belli from our point of view was Japanese occupation of Northern Viet Nam - to cut off China from economic supplies. From Japan's point of view it was the Anglo-Dutch-US embargo on oil, iron ore and rubber. And the Japanese strategy in "strike south" was to set up a regional autarky - that is self sufficient economy. They had the iron, copper, coal and aluminum in the North. Also sufficient food. They could capture oil, rubber, and certain valuable minerals, including tin in particular, in the South. Not to mention more of the other stuff - Asia's largest copper mine is on Luzon for example. Can Japan establish an autarky and defend it? This is the question the Pacific War seeks to answer. If yes, it can dominate the are (as PRC proposes to do in this century in its naval literature - see in particular "the first island chain" which runs from Singapore to Kodiak, Alaska - to be controlled by 2030, the second island chain" and "the third island chain" which runs from Port Moresby to Honolulu - to be controlled by 2050). If no, it cannot.

RHS v6.655 all scenarios posted at Send Space v5.655 in about half hour
changes
This update will permit unaided AI to run Japanese production and all engines and aircraft will produce - unless you kill the plants or their needed resources.
It converts all IJN sub chasers to two ship units, and US Admirable class MS to two ship units. A few more Admirable's are added in 1945 - including one not on any WITP list but lost in action.
In EOS, late war APs are mostly converted to similar sized AKs - same steel, same engines - more cargo. A number of AA enhanced auxiliary and transport classes were also created.
More slots opened up, the Soviet 85mm naval AA gun created in one of them, some unused devices used where they should have been used. A French DL and a French CL added - one on each side. French, Russian and some other ships have some better device definitions.
Some eratta folded in.
An enhansed pwhex (which will backfit to existing games) to come next - today.
I will attempt to create a turn based on this version. Work on improving efficiency in the location file and on EOS Allied plane art continues by others - but I am frozen again.

changes
These files upgrade 10 hexes in India which were coded as road vice RR,
fix a few mismatched hex sides in Borneo and the Himalayas,
and add some more cultivated areas in China. These latter make it easier for
guerillas to get supplies and escape - and harder to isolate enemy units from supplies. It also fixes a mismatched communications code or two near Shanghai.

Cobra,
Re RHSCVO v6.654 and v6 map
I have a missing TF icon at kavieng (62,88 )when converting allied AK to transport TF at commencement of scenario. The port icon is there but on converting the Ak's to a transport TF the green TF icon is missing.
Can you advise what updated files I would need for the icon to appear.
I have been downloading files nfrom your site regularly and now do not know which files I should use to correct the problem.
Many thanks

Cobra ,
Please ignore my post 377 as I have found a further anomoly. After creating the transport TF ( AK Balus & AK Induna Star ) at Kavieng which then has no TF icon on the map I later saved the game. On reloading the latest save game I notice that the icon for the 2 ships is still not on the map but neither are the 2 ships listed in the active ships list or task force database.
