bass.dll?

Post by spartacus007 »

When I purchased PureSim 2007 last year, I installed it on an external hard drive. This turned out to be a good thing, because my computer crashed a few weeks ago and I had to re-install Windows XP.

However, I went to run PureSim last night and it gave me an error message about a serial number. I went to the forums and I saw the new Community Edition, so I downloaded CE 1 and then the CE 3 patch.

This morning I installed it in the same directory as the old edition, and it gave me an error message about not finding 'bass.dll' I downloaded bass.dll from DLL-files.com and installed it in the Windows\System32 directory as instructed. Now when I run PureSim, I get a Microsoft Windows error message:

Error signature:
AppName: puresim2k7.exe AppVer: 2.0.0.19 AppStamp:45eafc4c
ModName: puresim2k7.exe ModVer: 2.0.0.19 ModStamp:45eafc4c
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00a5e620

Do I need to re-install somewhere else?

Thanks for any help when you get the chance!

I would uninstall and re-install the latest version from scratch.

I uninstalled and re-installed a couple times. Before re-installing, I deleted the bass.dll file. It runs just fine with the 1.51 release, but CE 3 gives me the error about missing bass.dll, then when I put bass.dll back, it gives me the Microsoft Windows error below.

When you install CE1 that file should be in the same directory as Puresim. Is it not there? You don't need the one in c:\windows\system32

I'd also suggest getting the latest sound drivers for your sound card.

No, there was no bass.dll in the PureSim folder. That's odd that it didn't install. Did it install for everyone else?

I found a newer version of bass.dll from the manufacturer's website and put it in the PureSim folder. Now the game runs just fine. Thanks :)

There is no copy of this file anywhere in my PureSim install.

Ditto. PureSim seems to be perfectly happy with this arrangement.

My mistake, I actually do install that to the system32 folder. Oh well, it works fine anyway :)
