MMCC3 Problem - Won't save?

I've had an ongoing problem with MMCCIII where when I get done with a battle, close out the game and return to the MMCCIII program nothing happens. I see a message on the bottom "waiting for end game message and units from attacker" and that's it, no updates and nothing saved. At this point I just end up hitting abort.

So, is there something I am doing wrong? I love playing MMCCIII, but it sucks when nothing is getting saved.

Have you talked to your opponent?
 
Are they going back to mmcc3 and hitting OK to finish the game?
