No, telegraphs help with reinforcements for battles. The manual, admittedly, didn't explain their purpose well enough.

about camps - I'm now middle 1863 and I'm at 3300 replacements each turn and I hope to achieve 4000 replacements early 1864. As you are getting 4000 reinforcments at non-advanced settings - this seems to me way too much unbalanced.

conclusion = advanced settings - only from 1864 on, you reach the same amount of reinforcments you are getting from the start at non-advanced settings. Even more, if you want to get a reasonable amount of replacements with advanced settings, a lot of free pops will be taken from your cities by all these camps.

Camps were too easy prior to the public beta patch, and now they are way too difficult in this beta patch. Especially for the CSA, which has fewer population.

Feedback from developers or other players?

Me, I'm hoping for further feedback from other players before we tweak anything.

post 23 is about a comparison I made between how camps work in advanced buildings settings and normal settings. I think the settings for advanced settings are way too unbalanced (too hard) given the situation =

- long time needed to even match the number of reinforces you get from basic or normal game settings,

- and the huge amount of pops eaten by these camps. In my first game I lost 5 pops from camps in april 1862 - that's a lot for the CSA (only a few cities allow you to create new infantry brigades),

spruce,

I can only say that in my experience the camps are ok at the current settings, but it's also quite scenario dependent. The population in Southern Steel, for example, gives them plenty to work with. The population in Coming Fury (without Greater Population on, which I do recommend) makes things a lot tougher, but only really questionable for the CSA. The thing is one solution has to fit all cases, both different scenarios, different population settings and different build priorities for players (some really focus on building camps, others don't).

We're hoping for more feedback because it's not entirely clear whether tweaking is required given the wide range.

Regards,

- Erik

hey Erik, thanks for the feedback. I play on standard scenario and I think that camps are now unreasonable tough on the CSA. If the chance for pop removal should be lowered, this would help. But I understand it's hard to make the system fit for both the CSA and USA.

I'll try another game to see if the first results are confirmed or this time it goes better.

I just finished my first game, Union July Coming Fury scenerio, and thought the camps worked fine. Of course, I was using double poplulation and built about 4 camps in Philly plus 1 in each big city, was drawing about 12,000 per turn at the end. I'm going to try the south in Southern Steel next, will see if it works different.

I don't use double population, fact is that CSA has very few cities that can build new infantry (Richmond, N-Orleans and a few others). And that makes the new camp system hard,
