Amazing Disappearing German Army

Post by thantis »

I've run into a very particular problem (or not as the case may be) regarding the German Army or lack thereof, after sustained heavy combat: 1942 - 1943

I am still running old 3.1 - with original scenarios. I started with the 1942 campaign as the Russians. Spent the first part of 1942 holding off AGS, inflicting some pretty serious losses as they approached the Don River, then managed to put together four Tank Armies and fought the battle of Kursk a year early - wiped out a few German Korps & gave the Panzers a good thrashing.

Now here's where things starting getting strange. After another couple of months I managed to isolated AGS & finally wipe out the last HQ (with all of the reserves) 3rd Rumanian I think. Now there was no more German units south of the Marshes.

I then proceeded to transfer the bulk of my tanks north for the winter, found a huge battle around Smolensk and managed to completely destroy AGC. After another couple of months, did the same thing to AGN. Now the only German/Allied units on the board are the Finns - about the come under attack by at least fifteen of veteran infantry armies, and a couple of Korps around Ploesti. The rest of the Front is completely empty of German Units.

I saved and went in on the German side and sure enough, OKH has about 23 Panzer Divisions in it, reorganizing, but no new HQ's and no infantry divisions.

Anybody else had this happen to them? I know I hit the Weremacht hard - burning out most of my forces in return - my plan was to push the Germans back to the Frontier in 1943, then reorganize for the final offensive in 1944 - now I can stroll into Berlin at leisure, with no resistance anywhere.

Thanks,

Hello Thantis
The German Army units are probably all piled up in OKH, waiting for the first 23 to be transferred out. Normally the Computer will filter these units throught to the front via the Army group HQ's
But as you have destroyed these, the computer has no idea where to send troops for rebuilding.
Try manually re-creating the destroyed A.G. HQ's and then transferring the avaliable divisions to them. You should see the German army gradually re-appear as it proceeds to gain 23 new units a turn in OKH, and feeds them through to the front.
"We're having a war, and we want you to come!"
So the pig began to whistle and to pound on a drum.
"We'll give you a gun, and we'll give you a hat!"
And the pig began to whistle when they told the piggies that.

Thanks Possum. I will try that this evening. Its strange to see the entire front empty of troops. I did a check last night and saw that the computer has transferred most of the SS Divisions to the Finnish HQ (looks like my offensive up north may take longer than expected).
