Well, nothing like a goodly dose of martial glory to erase the stain. Besides, he has tenure.

Will the professor be back in WWIIC? And will he have a texas drawl? This is the funniest thread I've seen since the Fancophobe thread on the Delphi Flight Sim-Red Baron II board! Great work Mandrake.

Many birds headed Auckland
*************Allied Intelligence Beaureau, Melborne, Australia, May 28, 1942************
<Faint signals reach a 100 m tall radio antenna. In a non-descript building which has been deliberately left unkmept on the exterior, the only radio operator in the South Pacific not named Sparks listens intently on his headphones. His name is Reginald Cathbert Anderson, Corporal, Australian Army. His friends jsut call him RCA. The equipment inside is not derelict, indeed it is absolutely top notch. This is the chief listening post for inbound radio traffice for the newly formed Allied Intelligence Beuareau. Among their responsibilities are the many Coastwatchers feeding information on Japanese ship and aircraft movements in New Guinea, the Solomons, New Britain, Bouganville and much of the Dutch East Indies.>
RCA: Lt., you had better listen to this.
OOD: Right, put it on speaker
Speaker: ...hellloooooo, helllllooooo, many birds headed Aukland...anybody there?
OOD: <pikes up mike and keys it> This is Piney Wood, we are you recieivng you loud and clear. Please identify yourself, over.
Speaker: Whoa! You mean this thing actually works? How the Hell are you guys? What did you say your name was? Don't tell me your mama named you Piney and your last name is Wood. Oh..that is tragic. HAHAHHAHAHHA.
OOD: This is Piney Wood. Please identify yourself, over.
Speaker: Piney Wood...HAHAHAHA..oh that is rich. At least she didn't call you Sporting. HAHAHHAHAHA
OOD: Please identify, over.
Speaker: Who me? You can call me Doug or Number One but quit calling me Over. HAHAHAHA
OOD: <to the clerk in the room> Get me the coastwatcher book. See if we have a "Number 1" I don't recognize it. <keys the mike again> Number 1, where are you, over.
Speaker: Well, Piney, if I can call you that HAHAHHAHA. The guy who said he was my handler said this was Rossel or Russel Island. Something like that. Hey, these fish eggs are pretty good but I cant get the smell off my fingers. Can't you guys send some crackers or something? And, while you're at it, how about a she gorilla with long legs, OOOOOOOOhOOOOO HAHAHAHHA And a bolo bat. I miss my bolo bat.
OOD: <to the clerk> Rossel Island? Do we have anyone? <keys the mike> Roger that Number 1. Crackers and a Bolo bat. Don't know about the she gorilla as we are already in a spot of trouble with SPCA over the Orangutans in Borneo. Over.
Speaker: OK, but hurry up with the crackers. Evan a fork would be nice. Say, why DO you keep calling me Over?
OOD: Number 1, that is just radio routine to indicate when a speaker is done transmitting. Over. <turns to clerk> Where do they get these village idiots these days?
Speaker: Oh, Ok. Also, quit calling me Roger too. It is very confusing. Hey, I just thought of something. If you can't find a gorilla how about a dog for company. Can you send Rover over, over? HAHAHAHHAHAH
<clerk pantomimes no on the bolo bat>
OOD: Roger that, Number 1. Its a no go on the Bolo Bat. Would you settle for a B-18 Bolo? We have plenty of the things lying about? Lastly, can you describe the enemy aircraft you reported earlier? Over
Speaker: Aircraft? I didn't see any aircraft flying over, over HAHAHHAHA
OOD: You reported many birds headed Auckland, over.
Speaker: Ah, yes. Birds. Yeah I saw birds. I see them all the time. I just wanted to see if this thing works.
OOD: Say Over, over.
Speaker: Over, over, over HAHAHAHHHAHA......
