Campaigns on the Danube Answer to Eric Rutins

Post by Flannel »

First off, ..I have the game installed with both patches, but I still have a problem: the game locks up on launch 4 out of 5 times.

This is annoying! I have to re-launch until I get the scenario screen. Usually, the game locks up on the Title Screen.

Any solutions?

this isn't mine ! but another post with the same problems. Also I HAVE sent twice now a diaxdiag to support@matrixgames.com along with the problems I am getting.
I was advised to change the 'IntroMusic' to 'IntroMusic.bak on the forums. Did this and it loaded ok twice. Won't open now though. I am now going to download again and see what happens this time
The person who mailed me the 'bak' solution had also had this problem so not a lot been done to rectify the game has there?

Is this even with the work-around you discovered?

This is the first I'm hearing of it, I'm not sure why support has not responded, but I'll e-mail them tonight to find out if your e-mails are getting through. Could you also post your DxDiag here as I don't have those e-mails you sent?

This is honestly the first time I've heard of this issue. I saw another post there from late September on a similar one, but those are the only ones I've seen in the nearly three years this game has been out. I would ask that you not jump to judgement but work with us to solve this.

If you can get me that DxDiag file, I'll get in touch with Frank and see if we can figure out what's going on here. This is not a known or long-standing issue, nor does it affect more than two users, as far as we know right now.

ERIK - and others.

Not sure re this, but I think this may be due to the game and/or a patch/s
being put somewhere other than the "default" folder. Why it does not like this I do not know.

EG: Default folder is C:\Matrix Games\CampaignsOnTheDanube

(It is possible to rename"CampaignsOnTheDanube", but that is all. )

Hope this helps.

I complained about this path problem shortly after release, but I don't think it was ever fixed.

Well I had the misfortune of buying the game last night without first checking the forums. And sure enough after installing the game hangs on the title screen. I have music and a glitzy title screen then everything freezes and every time. I have reinstalled many times and it just freezes at start up. But in reading some posts from other games I understand they are having similar problem with older games. There is a Korsun Pocket link that is similar to this. They can play it on an old laptop but not on a new computer. I would like a refund.

To confirm, is this a fully patched installation and are you sure the patch went to the same folder as the original installation?

If in fact this game, which is working fine on my systems and has worked fine in general since release, has suddenly developed severe issues due to some change in Windows, we'll find and fix the issue - we just need to duplicate it first.

I see from other threads here that this may be a dual processor issue. Can you confirm that you also have a dual core processor? If so, I know which system to check this on.

Hi Eric, yes, I have a dual processor. I have a feeling this may be the problem or it's with Windows because I completely shutdown Norton when installing or attempting to play. Here is my dxdiag. [:'(]
