For those seeking inspiration on possible CotA scenarios...

Post by jmlima »

If you want to do a scenario but are lacking the inspiration, seek no further, Operation Exporter as come to your rescue.

It was the Allied invasion of Vichy's Lebanon and Syria, with plenty of battles at the game's scale eagerly looking to be modelled...

There's enough info on the links above to get the thing going...

There are also some scenarios available on the Blitzkrieg Commander website.

The Vichy and Iraq campaigns both offered plenty of scope for good manouvre battles. The ANZACs were there in force of course and I can recommend the section in the official history ( Australia in the War of 1938-1945 ) by Gavin Long entitled Greece, Crete and Syria published by the Australian War Memorial. Almost half the book is devoted to it with chapter heading including "Across the Litani", "Pressing On To Sidon", "The French Counter Attack", "Damascus Falls", "Hard Fighting at Jezzine" and the "Battle of Damour". It includes a great colour topo map of the Metulla-Merdjayoun battlefield, which would be a good basis for a map plus another colour topo map of the Damour battlefield.

I know for a fact that the Australian Army would love to have some good scenarios from this campaign.

And how about 'Operation Felix'? The planned invasion of Gibraltar?

I have been studying some of the available ressources for Operation Exporter and I have now started work on the first map and scenario.
