RE: Look at all those bombs......
Faber, are you going to reinforce the air force there or pull them out?
Created by the amazing Dixie
RE: Look at all those bombs......
Hi Mike............I'll pull them out as soon as he can get his bombardment forces within range.....Mostly Kamikazi's and Frank's on station at the moment...................
No point in stationing any LRB....as they cannot get past late war allied uber-cap.............................
On this question.........I'm going to chat to Speedy in the next few days about any late war house rules he feels we need........as the final battles approach........I have 5 Zeke Sqdrns assigned as Kami's all flying above Hellcat ceiling.......as it is the only way to get through his CAP......he has stated he is happy with this.............but I would like to insure....after over 2 years of playing Steven...that we are both happy with the rules of engagement......as the late war air combat model is not ideal............

Late War Plans
Very impressive set of screenshots of your situation -- much appreciated. You've done an extraordinary job of preserving the IJN carriers.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

RE: Look at all those bombs......
Faber, regarding your 4 Divs recovering at Bangkok, have you considered moving 1 or 2 out to other large supply bases...I have a theory (unproven at this point) that recovering LCU (not unlike repairing ships) do better if they are one of the few units in a hex and one of the few units being reconstituted.

Artwork graciously provided by Dixie
RE: Look at all those bombs......
One I have just shifted to Singapore............but it's a good thought............I might shift another to Saigon.......but I want them to stay in theatre.......I fear they will be needed quickly............ORIGINAL: niceguy2005

RE: Look at all those bombs......
18th August 1944...........
Speedy's noose tightens....and is getting rather uncomfortable....................
Singkawang fell today.....and a convoy of transports was spotted moving to Singkawang......Speedy won't follow my troops on the long slow march to Kuching.....he will hope to move by sea...........
SAG 4 Yamashiro 2 CAs and 8 DDs left Singapore to try and catch the transports.....I was going to send only the cruisers....but fear a RN BB or two in the vacinity.............they will be covered by Franks flying from Palambang............
Kuching has about 440 AV and only one small airgroup.......a Kamikazi unit of Graces..............
Some Betty's moved to Batavia.......to try and catch any stragglers...........

Nice move! The penguin still has teeth . . . er, talons?
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

August 26th 1944................
After a weeks lay-off............Speedy is back and the war continues..................which consists of me sitting for 25 minutes watching a combat replay of endless allied air-raids across the penguinese empire..................
This included 130 Super-forts bombing the HI at Toyama...............61 hits..............as all my CAP was flying from another base which was socked in by the weather......
Allied tanks shock attacked across the river 120 miles to the North-east of Reahang........pushing back my 1 shattered div....and a Const. Bat...........he'll need more than 1 tank Reg. to take Reahang..........
More surface action expected off northern Borneo next turn.........so watch this space..............

SAG (4)........avoided Sinkawang...and pulled into Pont......tonight.........sinking 8 transports........by Using the Cruisers and not adding the old/slow Yamashiro........I get more time for combat.......and better results....but one of the Transports took a bite out of DD Oboro...and slowed her speed........she was then caught and hit by Avengers in the morning........and finished off by a Sub in the afternoon......
CA Nachi was alos attcked by allied DBs flying from Sinkawang.....and took 2 hits ....no real damage.......but this will be the last raid for now.......general wear and tear on my Cruisers and losses on my Aircraft flying LRCAP ....have taken their toll......I lost 19 Zekes flying LRCAP.....to a handfull of Hellcats and Corsairs.....none of which were shot down.......but I didn't expect any kills with 55 lvl exp. pilots........................

USS Drum was sunk off HK today by ASW patrol................and I have spotted over 20 subs this turn..........I have 18 ASW TFs on the go and 20+ airgroups flying ASW.......but still Speedy continues to hurt me sinking 2 AKs this turn..........
The Jap. Economy limps on.....but at least doesn't crawl along.....I built 18 Franks today at least ....but Oil and lack of HI storage is hurting my cause.........
A bombardment attack on the the Burma mainfront caused almost 1,000 casualties...............if Speedy knew my supply problems in Burma he must attack.....if he shock attacked here the whole front would split open............

RE: Look at all those bombs......
It would seem that the IJN's fate is not unlike that of a deer in the middle of a wolfpack hunt. Ships have a chance as long as you can stay running at full speed. However if just one of the "wolves" injures a ship, the pack will jump it.ORIGINAL: fabertong

2nd September 1944..........
September is upon us.......and the last three turns have been full of adventure.........
Speedy used his B-29s to raid the HIs...........180 hit the HIs.......with 46 Jack intercepting........he lost about 20 aircraft.......me 20......and he scored 50 hits on my HI..............
160 B-29s raided Batavia......he lost another 17.......me about 20(60 mixed CAP).....he failed to close the airfield.......
160 B-29 hit Singapore 2 days running..........he lost about 25 aircraft ....me 35(mixed CAP).......he failed to close the airfield........
His Invasion forces are 1 day out of Kuching.........2xBBs spotted supporting........no carriers spotted.....but he will be flying LRCAP.......with his corsairs....lightnings.....and P-47......all on station...........AAG 2 ....4CVs and 1 CVL are only four hexes away..........I hope for a slice of luck....to close one of his airfields ....otherwise my carrier airgroups will be slaughtered........

You seem to be taking a bight out of this B-29s.

I'm flying a 'big wing' in the HIs of 1680 Franks........they change bases every turn.........if I can catch him ....just once.....it will really make him think about unescorted air-raids..........but no luck as of yet..........
