RE: Dec. 13th, 1941
I left the Houston and its escorts in Tarakan one turn too long - She will survive and fight again after some time in the yards. If I can get her to OZ.
I was hoping to use that task force to break up a lightly escorted amphib but i did not get the opporatunity.

NCSU: From what I have seen in the Divebomber inquiry we have mixed reviews. I think we should allow it within reason. What do you think?
This turn had the expected invasion of Rabaul and the repulse of my forces at Hong Kong. As to the latter, the Capitalists shall be subjected to some bombardments before I finish them off. Kuching succumbed to our valorous forces as did Medang, and Rabaul is expected to be added to the tally shortly. If we can refer to the latest graphic, the TF to the SE of Sandakan turned out to be a Bombardment TF with some big boys, and they did some decent damage:

RE: Dec. 16th, 1941
Lets allow the PTs to team up with other small boys - nothing larger than a DD and we can limit the number of ships and see how it works - Lets agree to a mulligan if something too weird happens - Like 2 dds and 6 PTs crushing that bombardment above.

Although I don't like AAR's with long listings of combat reports, on turns where commentary would be superfluous, especially since we can't talk too much 'strategery', I will post selected CR's.

RE: Dec. 18th, 1941
I will be the first to admit that I am screwing up big time logistically as the Japs, but the experience is invaluable for an AFB![8D]
I am learning that the early game Japs aren't nearly as invincible as I thought before. They have weaknesses that I never understood, but I will be sure to take advantage of in the future. Want to do a start-over Divebomber?
To my esteemed opponent: we have a house-rule of ASW TF's having a max size of 5 ships, and I am keeping to that. The ASW attacks with many ships you are seeing are either surface combat or transport TF's with other, appropriate ships in them.
This turn went to the Allies I think because he did more attrition damage to me than I did to him but hopefully I can turn that around soon especially considering the locations of my new conquests.

RE: Dec. 18th, 1941
I know this is early in the game, and fairly standard moves are happening now, are there any suggestions as to postings?

I can't find if you mentioned whether you have PDU on or off in this game. (Or does PDU even apply to the Mod that you are using?)

A bad day for the Emperor's sub arm, but landings have taken place at Kavieng, and Hong Kong has been reduced to a zero level fort with a 1 to 1 attack. The Singapore Steamroller has begun from Singora with the first stop on the way, Alor Star abandoned.

RE: Dec. 19th, 1941
A few turns have gone by, and the Dutch and British subs have made me pay a price for my advances. NCSU bombarded Tarawa a few times reducing the supplies to zero, but a transport TF has made that good. Interestingly he has been paying some attention to Tarawa with Coronados this past turn. I think he may be thinking of an early counterattack in the area. It could be a ruse, but I don't really know his style yet. In Malaya, my troops are slowly and steadily pressing southward. He has been withdrawing just as I show up in force at each base thereby saving his AV's for the final battle. The PI is happening pretty much the same way to date. The noose is tightening. China is something totally new for me since I am new to CHS. I came in confident I could kick his butt there quickly but CHS changes things. I have some ideas I am working on. NCSU has been playing hide and seek in China with elements of the AVG to my cost. I suppose I will have to put up with it until I can free up some airpower.

RE: Dec. 19th, 1941
My ASW crews have made some headway in clearing out some of thse I boats. I lost a few MSW's in the process but the tradeoff was worth it. He is starting to do the same so new tactics in the sub war are coming. Conservation and delay are the orders of the day for DEI and PI as I wait for opporatunities.
Operations in China are fairly new to me as well since I usually put China on Computer control in my AI games.

The vildebeast and swordfish pilots have learned that Japanese gunners get confused by planes with multiple wings. They cannot decide which to shoot at until it is too late and the torp is in the water.

The Japs have continued to pound Sorabaja with KB less Shokaku and Zuikaku. Where will they show up with the CVLs in tow?? I have a few ideas and maybe a few surprises. I managed one small victory in the defense of Jhore Baru AU's tanks arrived before the supporting infantry [:-][:-] and got smashed. A few days ago, I sent Lex, Enterprise and Sara to raid Wake for a little training and recon. Everything else is following the normal scenario. PI is holding but AU is closing in from both the North and South.
The Dutch AF has performed in its normal dismal fashion against the onslaught of KB (made a few attacks but no HITS [:@][:@].

After three days of pounding Soerabaja's port, and its 72 ships there, the abbreviated KB feinted towards home for a turn, and then came rushing back. Also, a small transport trying to sneak out of the PI was spotted by air. The IJN conducted a recce in force. Merchant Marine labor strikes are expected soon.

ASW wars are the predominant feature of the game now, although my first bombardment TF to hit PM caught an AK and a TK with three small escorts in port. Unfortunately I had escorts to bombard set and had a DD moderately hit in the bombardment. Kuching AF finally has a BF, and Nells are now sweeping all floating detritus within range. Other than reinforcements arriving for the sieges in Malaya and Mindinao not much is happening. I am organizing my logistical tail and I am finally beginning to acquire a situational awareness of the Jap forces. For any of you Allied Fanboys out there who haven't done so yet, I recommend you play a game as the Japs to truly understand their weaknesses. I will be a better AFB from the experience.
Additionally, I now have forces in place at both Clark AFB and Manila. As I understand movement in the game, his forces are permanently split due to the ZOC limitations for movement. I am not really sure on this point, and am curious to see what happens.
