Med Wars! Part DU - Benito Barney vs Chuck

Post by Nikademus »

Chuck and I are restarting due to having gone through several new beta versions with enough changes to warrant a new test after playing with the mod and getting feedback from Speedy and Pauk in their first run through.

WitM NM Beta4 changes

- scrubbed Ger and UK subs.....generally raised exp to make them more
effective
- reduced port levels (except Tobruk) between Tripoli and Alexandria to zero
with zero SPS. Did this because even though there were a couple other ports
the Ger's couldn't use them to keep the DAK going (it all had to be unloaded
at Tunis, creating a very long supply line...hence Tobruk is a key capture
and any Axis attempt to build a port for supply dump purposes will be tough
(for shortening the supply path))
- Increased fort level of Tobruk
- Added a few leaders to game (Like Auchinleck for example)
-scrubbed panzer tank values
- eliminated disabled device % for Axis reinforcements
- Allied LCU scrub. added missing Allied units, also repositioned some units to be able to be deployed better
- Sicilian AV support further reduced
- scrubbed Italian battleship armor values
- added missing Allied LCUs at game start. Some of the missing unit's didn't deploy until later in 42, so in compensation those LCUs start with a high disablement level.
- Sherman tanks replaced with Grants - Sherman deployed in time Alamein.
- adjusted some LCU starting positions for Axis and Allies.
- Italian fuel and in some places supply levels decreased at game start.
- Adjusted some airplane stats.
- completed NM conversion of American air force planes.
- PP levels reduced to zero at game start

The first turn's back to Nik. Death to the purple people eater!

Below is a picture of the scourge of the Italian Navy. (I'll try to showcase some of Fremen's art - it's amazing):

I like those experience levels[:D] Warspite looks like she should be a little longer, looks a bit top heavy in that graphic.

Warspite on Steroids

Post by Capt. Harlock »

Hmmm. Am I reading correctly that Warspite's top speed is 48 knots?[X(]
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

The Med Mod is based on a 30 mile hex, so all speeds were doubled to reflect this.

The map is a 30-mile hex. So all speeds have been doubled to make up for that. That apparent 48 knots = 24 knots in truth.

It certainly makes naval movement different. The hard-coded max movement/phase is 6 hexes/phase or 180 miles in this mod. So naval units can't move more than 15 knots even if they have a top speed much more than that. It's taking some getting used to, but I don't have a better idea of how to represent it.

Edit: bradfordkay beat me to it.

The campaign started with a couple ground attacks against Indian troops in Libya. But the main news was an all-out effort by Axis forces against Malta. Ouch!

My fighters and fighter-bombers were all on 80% CAP, staggered roughly between 20K & 30K. (The CAP % may have worked against me. Last game I started at 60% and upped it later after the morale went down. This turn my fighters mostly stayed & fought and got shot down.)

The runways are clear, but engineers estimate the hangars & machine shops are 26% damaged. A squadron of Kittyhawks has flown in to bolster the defense.

The large engineering presence in Malta definitely helps. Nik still has some work to do to close it.

Despite the enemy terror-bombers, the citizens of Malta are determined to hold firm.

Let me guess, what BB1A Barney drops is designed to discourage the engineers from going out to repair the runways, right?

Day 2 of the liberation of Club Med

Post by Nikademus »

Well as expected, after the Max-effort of the previous day, the reception committee over Malta was decidedly less intense. They SHOULD hide.......we are LEGION... [:)] Traded two Italian fighters for about 4-6 Enemy fighters.....The defenders were holding their own until bounced by the high flying Me-109's which shot down most of today's victims.
