Observations that drive me nuts!!!!!!!

Post by simmer »

The kicker never kicks the ball in the end zone....The defensive players are not aggressive enough and let offensive players have there way with them. Too many completed passes.

I see kicks into the endzone all the time, even on Canadian fields which are longer. So I'm not sure what's happening there.

As for the other comment, I really think that boils down to a personal preference of play balance. In other releases I've had the defense just slightly more aggressive and I had complants that nobody could complete a pass and there were too many sacks.

David will you edit a constraint file that will utilize the kicks and defensive aggession a tad....I need your expertise.

david, i have yet to see a kick off go into the endzone even when the kickers kicking strength is 95+ and he is kicking from the 35 yard line.  i've tried adjust the constants and nothing is happening.

what constants are you using to make this happen?

anything else i can do to make it better?

thank you.

I dont see many, although today I did see a kicker put it about 2yds deep into the EZ in an Arena game.

I often wonder if its a first year thing. Maybe over a couple seasons our kickers get stronger after a few training camps...maybe we will see it more? I dont know, just a thought. I spend so much time tinkering with stuff I have yet to go beyond one season.

Kicking strength is scaled to the field so putting a kicker with 95 strength on an indoor field will not slam the ball into the side of the building at the other end of the field even though he can kick the ball to the 5 yardline on a Canadian field.

Physics_MaxKOStrength=15 is the kick off base value. Changing that will effect the kickoff strength. What is likely to happen though is that you'll end up with every single kick going into the endzone (or falling very short).

I don't recommend people changing those values.

i changed it to 25.0 and it had no effect.  i still have yet to see the ball land in the endzone.

25 is too high. The game will over ride that value. You need small decimal increments. I set mine between 15.8 and 16.5 and can often see the ball land in the endzone.

BTW, Kicker accuracy also plays a roll too.

thanks david.

also, how do depth charts work.  is it directly related to the auto fill?

i've been playing around with it and can't figure it out.  to fill my OL positions, do i put my top 4 at the top of the depth chart?  how about the DL, and RB and FB?  i'm just trying to figure out a better way than going through every formation (20ish) and establishing it's depth chart.  it's get frustrating especially when you accidently hit the auto fill and it deletes all your work.

David I am still getting poor kick off results after setting the constraints file to 16.5 Will you upload your constraint file since your getting the desired results. Maybe mine is faulty. I know I tinkered with it in the past. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks

Going back a few updates I used to see an occasional KO go into the end zone, but that just translated to an automatic Touchback. Never once did the KR man ever return a KO from inside the end zone. Lately, the average KO is caught on the 7 or 8 yard line though.
