More interface, etc. bugs

Post by LeBlaque »

Sorry if this has already been reported:

1) On the keypad the + keys works fine to cycle through units but the - (minus) key is not working as intended.

2) Per the rulebook, page 56, for the Union, it states can have no more than 3 divisions (that would be a max 45K men w/o siege artillery support), but I was able to put in 4 understrength divisions with a total of sixteen brigades and a maximum of 48K men. Either the rule book is wrong or there is a bug.

3) Standard scenario, BASIC game, Kentucky went CSA when I was playing Union. I took the three cities and only the FIRST city I took appeared on the CITY LIST, the others weren't listed. The others did not appear on the City List and thus had to use other interfaces to build/produce. However, when I saved and reloaded the game, these cities then DID appear on the City list.

4) Took over Selma Alabama and after capturing noticed that the AI was building SIX Plantations and 1 MANSION for a total of 7/30. Why the AI was building all this I have no idea, particularly since there is a penalty for multiple buildings. I have a save game file if you're interested. Also, I thought the maximum a city could have was 24 facilities per my read of the rule book?

Eric will have to respond to these issues, but regarding #4, I'd point out that plantations produce income, so the AI is making a perfectly sound investment by building a bunch of them.

The minus key works on my numpad, so I'm not sure; I'll try it on one of our other machines.  Do you have a laptop?''

The error here in the rulebook has been addressed before, but I don't have the post for that handy; we're working on putting together an errata file.

I can't think of any reason why loading a saved game would make these cities appear off the top of my head.  Has anyone else had this problem with conquered cities?

The support level can be reported higher than 24, and the AI does consider building Plantations solely for the economic gain involved.  However we did fix a bug which was causing the AI to build multiple support buildings (I can't seem to find the thread for this).

I do have a laptop but I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse attached to it. The keypad minus key does something strange: It --------------- (yes, just tested, that minus key is working in this text [;)]). It does seem to cycle through units but the main display information in the lower center does not change. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I am playing on the "low memory" setting as my laptop only has 512M?

I re-read the rules, there does not seem to be any penalty for building multiple buildings in regard to time required, but there is for multiple units, is that correct? I'm wondering as all the plantations seemed to have different turn requirements but I suppose that that would be due to different start times. Should the AI lump so many into one city that only had a garrision of 3k (1 brigade)?

Sure. Selma's tougher for the Union to take than several other cities. And perhaps at some point the AI might raise its garrison level, or even build a fort.
