Hi Chuck,

Just curious - are most of the commanding officers in your air units running high skill, moral, and air stats? It looks like you are fielding most of the planes in your air units. I know you said your supplies are good and your engineers seem to be doing a bang-up job of filling the runway holes. What do you have for Air HQs?

It's cools to watch the changes going on with this mod. Anyway - I'll be checking up on this AAR to see how ya'll are doing.

TTFN,

Mike

I'm still using the starting leaders in all my airgroups. (The only leader changes I've made so far have been to assign leaders to 2 or 3 LCUs that were missing them.) Here's an example: I just pulled out 126 Squadron from Malta. It was flying Hurris. The leader is a Capt C Ingram. 65/42/45. Not horrible, but not great either.

There are no Air HQs at Malta. There is a lot more aviation support than I need, which I think has helped.

There's also a large engineering presence which helps a lot with the airfield repair. 202 engineer squads & 28 engineer vehicles. That's the equivalent of about 12 IJ construction battalions.

And yes, it's a cool mod. While it's still in the beta stage (only to be expected at this point) I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I finally conceded (temporarily!) the airspace over Malta. 7 separate raids pummeled the island again. The damage is 39 to the airfield & 49 to the facilities. Supplies are still doing ok - @ 23 1/2 K.

One lone Blenheim squadron was sent into Malta to try to attack the Italian transports unloading at Tripoli. It did fly but it had no success.

Both sides traded blows in Libya, attacking each other's forward airbases & supply dumps. British fighters helped disrupt the attack against Tobruk and no major damage was caused. However the British raid against Agedabia met with initial success. See the pic:

The Malta pounding continues. 7 more raids - 56/54 damage - supply at 23267.

Wellingtons miss Italian shipping off Tripoli again. Liberators raid Agedabia, causing minor damage.

Reletively quiet turn again. Malta air defenders chose not to engage our airforces again so we only have the murderous flak barrages the embattled Fortress puts up. Benghazi falls without resistance. The port's facilities won't be much use given size and damage (simulated by the SPS and build of zero) and won't hold much in the way of supply dumps but every bit counts. Afrika corps continues to go in and out of the red where supply is concerned. The slow unload time and distance from Tripoli is a pain. Recon shows we might meet substantial resistance at Barca....or will it just be a holding action?

A massive Luftwaffe sweep over Tobruk scores massive lopsided results against the hapless RAF. The outnumbered Hurricanes in particular are no match for our Messerschmidts.

If you take Barce quickly, then it's just a holding action. Otherwise it's a strategically ingenious plan. [:D]

Ah, bugger - Ouch!!!

In the meantime two Italian TFs have been spotted north of Libya. One of them appears to be a BB TF in range to bombard Tobruk. I didn't anticipate that - I might about to receive a world of hurt. [:(]

Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Where's the RN?

They were cleaning off barnacles in Alexandria - not quite close enough to intercept a nighttime bombardment. Their current location is confidential...

It was a false alarm as the Italians bombarded Barce instead and appear to be covering a supply convoy to Benghazi. Lesson learned, however - I need to fly some more naval search! [:)]

Jan 13, 1942

Malta watch: 4 incoming raids. The airfield's repaired slightly to 30/57. Supply is down to 22843.

As mentioned the Italians bombarded Barce, not terribly damaging:

RE: Med Wars! Part DU - Benito Barney vs Chuck

Post by Capt. Harlock »

They were cleaning off barnacles in Alexandria - not quite close enough to intercept a nighttime bombardment. Their current location is confidential...

Jan 13, 1942

As mentioned the Italians bombarded Barce, not terribly damaging:

I think we now have an idea of where the RN battle-wagons are! Nice move off Benghazi -- but it looks as if Barney's gunners got the range a little better on the next day.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Here's a pic of the Royal Navy foiling the dinosaur's resupply efforts:
