RE: Japanese attempts insurrection in India

Post by kaleun »

Japanese forces roam about the Indian north, as the allied command redeploys a few forces to face this threat. Due to the distances involved and lack of ground transport, the Japanese threat is more of a nuisance than any real bother

RE: New landing in Australia

Post by kaleun »

today's news is bittersweet. The good news is that in Milne bay, New Guinea, a brave remnant of engineers have been able to survive since the Japanese occupied Port Moresby. Isolated, they were unable to be rescued but have been recently received supplies. American marines have now landed, joined with them, and established a new base in New Guinea. This may represent a turning point in the SW Pacific campaign.
The bad news is more dire. The Japanese successes in China have allowed large contingents of Japanese isen gorin to be sent elsewhere in their sprawling empire. Aside for their unimportant irritating venture in north India, where they have taken the undefended city of Benares, no doubt to take some ritual baths in the Ganges, and may all the crocodiles feed happily on their putrid flesh, the Japanese have decided on a new attack in Northern Australia. Yesterday, enemy forces have landed in Geraldton, where the shore batteries took a toll on their ships. This landing is supported by a carrier force offshore.
Our local informants in Geraldton wonder where the Japanese will get the water to make their tea.

In Oz, distances are deceiving. The 43rd US division set out for a destination 420 miles away. After traveling 465 miles, they are still where they started!

The defensive problems for the allies are quite complex. On the one hand, the Japanese drive on ALbany and Perth needs to be stopped and reversed. In addition, the air raids at Noumea are costing a large number of ships and materiel, that can hardly be spared. On the Burma front, the enemy has been kicked out of India, and the front seems to have stabilized somewhat, that being the only bit of good news to date.
Appear at places to which he must hasten; move swiftly where he does not expect you.
