Give me a break...I lose a sub to a PT boat! [:@]

This game is so broken it is unplayable! Why can't they make it like real life! How hard can that be?

Not sure why you made this comment. In real life PT boats were on occasion outfitted with 300/600lb depth charges and did ASW patrols. Not sure what is broken.[:)]

It is possible, however unlikely

Any combat model needs to have a very wide range of outcomes, as chaos reigns supreme in combat and creates all sorts of odd outcomes outside the norm.

Comabt modeling is a real difficult activity because of that fact.

I disagree with your belief the game is "broken" for this.. Some PT's carried depth charges and even hedgehogs, so apparently they felt the idea of PT vs sub was possible.
Then too, subs may have been sunk by torpedoes as well, (ala "Run Silent, Run Deep")?

agreed

simple scenario

sub surfaces after running submerged, bad visibility or at night, and just happens to run into a pt boat that wasnt spotttewd with the periscope search

pt boat comes in and fires fish

boom

PTs in-game don't ever get DCs either...

Subs have a greater chance to attack on the surface if out of torps.

Another thing is that the PT's were in a SCTF instead of a PTTF?[;)]

Sonar isn't a necessity. Boat on the surface, or has periscope up, just dived.

Guys, you might note that the combat result says "torpedo hits 3", not depth charges.

I haven't found anything on this yet, but I'm guessing that Knavey is back to his old tricks. Several times he has posted one of these, when in reality the result was not from the game but rather from WW2.

This is the second I have seen, but I am a relative newbie. Never trust a Nuc. I should know, I was one also. [8D]

Well, I didnt keep score, but I know for a fact that PT-73 sank more than 1 Jap sub, shot down dozens of Zeros and a few dozen 109's also.
