DEI

Some enemy TFs are approaching Ceram island. Air raids are increasing. Amboina will surely be the next target. Enemy NLFs landed and captured Boela, on the south and Namlea, on the north of Amboina.

Cent Pac

Canton I. falled today. The assault force of the japs is around 50, so if Chuck doesn’t reinforce the atoll, it will be easy to occupy it again.
The 14. ND 158 US RCT ARE already prepping in Panama City.

SW Pac

Rabaul is lost, but if Chuck won’t employ the KB in this area, I’ll try to inflict him a lot of losses. Force Z is approaching the area, and Enterprise and Lexington are already operating there.

DEI

As I said, jap landed in Amboina on the 3rd .

Philippines

The fort in Bataan has been reduced to 3, but with odds 0:1 on my favour the assault has been repulsed.

SW Pac

An Australian SAG is heading towards Lae and Buna area. I spotted an enemy convoy with probably some CA as escort, heading towards this area and I suppose Chuck intends to land in Buna or, probably in Lae. I’ll try to stop the invasion. At this purpose also the CVBG of Lexington, now south-east of Milne Bay, is sprinting north.

On the 10th they hit with another 2 bombs the sister ship Yamashiro and, again, boink!

On the 18th Chuck occupied Sansapor, Cebu I. and Gardner I. (Cent Pac).
Finally some success for my planes. On the 19th dutch aircrafts based in Soerabaya hit with 1 torpedo CL Naka and set him on fire, and with 2 torpedoes CL Natori, leaving him badly damaged.
Also if they missed the primary targets (BBs), the result is not bad. Until now the Imperial Navy escaped from my air attacks.

The bad news, anyway, are coming from Luzon, where Bataan falled on the 19th: 31’348 allied soldiers have been taken prisoners.

Burma

The japs occupied an abandoned Rangoon. This is meaning that I can free my Chinese infantry units. We both agreed that they could not enter in Burma before Rangoon was occupied or by-passed.

DEI

Makassar and Waigeo I. falled today

Normal advance of Japan Empire.
On 25th Durmaguete I., in the Philippines, falled in enemy hands.
On the 26th the japs assaulted Singapore, reducing the fort to 6 but obtaining a 0:1 odds and taking 4’356 losses vs 4’545 on my side.

On the 28th Manila has been assaulted and the fort has been reduced to 0, but the odds of 1:0 on my favour stopped the attacker. The japs lost 2’408 men while I lost 1’478.

Also Lombok’s garrison hold the island against a shock attack on the 28th.

Bali falled and 2’307 dutch soldiers have been captured by the Evil Empire.
Same fate for Samarina: 3’357 prisoners and between them also some troops of the 4th USMC Regiment.

SW Pac

Two jap TFs have been located NE of Finschafen. I ordered immediately my 2 CVBG, (Lexington and Enterprise), followed by Force Z to sail from Brisbane and to intercept if KB is not presents.

January 30th- 31st , 1942

On the 30th japs captured Mussai I. (SW Pac), Magwe (Burma) and Talaud I. (DEI).
They also landed in Finschafen.

On the 31st Tacloban garrison surrendered to the Japanese: 1’932 allied soldiers have been taken prisoners.

Also on the 31st Kido Butai has been spotted in the Solomon Sea, moving SE. Hiryu and Akagi have been identified. I don’t know if others carriers are present.
My 2 CVs, as you can see in the attached picture, are far, in the south. They need to refuel at Townsville. Then I’ll decide if I will engage the enemy.
I have also the Saratoga in Noumea, escorting the unloading convoy with the 2. USMC Div on board. When the unloading will be completed, the Sara will run W, to meet the other two carriers. Yorktown left Papeete two days ago but will also reach SW Pac.
From Brisbane a refuelling TF is loading fuel now and will sail in two days to support operations.
From Ceylon the 2 british carriers are approaching Derby. They will arrive in about four days and after refuelling, they will transfer to SW Pac to cooperate with US Navy.

Singapore

Some success for the enemy against the fortress. 1:1 odds and fort reduced to level 5; 2’532 losses for the japs and 3’851 for me!

Philippines

Also in Manila the things are going bad. The fort has been reduced to 0 and with an odd of 1:1, I suppose the next time the japs will attack, they will conquer the capital.

SW Pac

Lae has been occupied by the japs. This is the obvious step to capture SE part of New Guinea and Port Moresby.
The KB is now heading NW, towards the Vitiaz Strait, between New Britain and Finschafen. My carriers are still heading towards Townsville so I suppose they will arrive on late anyway.

On the 2nd the japs captured Emirau I. (SW Pac) and Victoria Point (Burma).
On the 3rd 119 Kate attacked Port Moresby airfield. This is the prove that the entire KB is in the Solomon Sea. I’ll keep my two carriers away. I don’t want to loose them. They will attack only when the 2 british and Saratoga will join the TF.
Meanwhile the japs landed and captured Buna.

China

At Henchow my garrison is holding, and inflicted heavy losses to the enemy, about 2’700 casualties.

DEI

On 5th I lost 5 AK around Java, while Baby-KB is attacking every ship that is sailing for or to the DEI. On the same day Pomala falled in japs hand.
I have now the 2 british carrier refuelling in Derby. I will send them north and try to organize an ambush to the light carriers.

Malaya

Assault on Singapore on 5th and fort reduced to 4. 2’918 japs dead, while I lost 1’568 men.

SW Pac

Kido Butai is now heading SW, to pass Milne Bay. Recon says there are not transport present in the numerous TFs. Maybe the carriers are only trying a raid in the Coral Sea.
Enterprise and Lexington are heading south east, and they will meet with Saratoga.

DEI

I sent the 2 british carriers off Java and they arrived south of Malang but the planes didn’t attack. The surprise is gone and now I need to retreat my carriers to avoid the distruction.

Singapore

During an assault on 9th, the odds were 4:1 on japs favour and the fort have been reduced to 4.
The end is approaching.

Burma

Mandalay falled on 9th. My troops are retreating to north, to organize an efficient defense. Chinese troops are moving slowly into Burma from east.

DEI

The british carriers withdrawn towards Indian Ocean. They will then sail again towards Australia.

SW Pac

On the night of 10th japs landed on Buin
In the morning my three carriers, Enterprise, Saratoga and Lexington surprised enemy ships off Milne Bay. I monitored Kido Butai and I noticed that enemy carriers left the area, direction Truk.
During the first raid my planes hit 3 AP, 2 PC and 1 MSW. In the afternoon bad weather prevent my planes to attack again. Anyway 2 AP and 1 PC are reported sunk.
Now it’s time to run away, full speed. The 3 carriers will then meet Yorktown off Rockhampton.

Burma

Japanese reached Lashio. For the moment I should be able to stop them, but if enemy reinforcements will arrive, I’ll be forced to withdraw again.

SW Pac

The revenge of the Death Star. My carriers turned south and run away. But a TF with CA Pensacola, CL Achilles and CL Leander lost their way and remained three hexes north. 129 Vals and 144 Kates struck my cruisers and sunk all three of them. Ouch!
I’ll continue to run away with my carriers. I cannot afford the KB with 3 CV.

Singapore

A disastrous day also in Malaya. Singapore falls and 99’489 british soldiers have been taken prisoners.

Philippines

The fort of Manila have been lowered down to 0. Maybe tomorrow will be the end for the capital city.

DEI

I have to consider Java virtually lost. Imperial navy is always present there and I cannot employ my planes because the airfields are constantly shelled. My ships cannot evacuate the troops and so I’m really immobilized. It’s a good strategy by Chuck.
In addition Soerabaya FELL today (thanks Blackhorse for the info about the past sense). In harbour I had about 15 damaged AK, all scuttled. Over 8’000 dutch soldiers are now prisoners.

Burma

Lashio also fell today. My troops are now retreating towards Mitkyina.

SW Pac

The KB is disappeared. My carriers are now heading back to Australia to refuel.

On 14th japs occupied Madioen (Java), Mitkyina (Burma) and Sampit (Borneo). With the loss of Mitkyina the Burma Road is now closed.
On 15th Manila fort is lowered to 0, but the defendes held. The defenders are very stubborn. Instead on this day Taung Gyi fell.

China

Wenchow finally fell on 16th and 56’113 chinese have been captured.

DEI

Enemy troops are marching north in Java. Kragen fell on 16th.
On 17th jap warships shelled Batavia airfield, destroying a lot of planes. On the 18th japs occupied Djokjakarta, on their way towards Batavia.

Philippines

Japs landed and occupied Guiuan, in 18th.
Manila resisted another assault, despite the fort has been lowered to 0. But here I have very tought soldiers.
